JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Soccer Team (5-2-1, 1-2-1 SAC) looked like it was heading home without a result Wednesday night at McCown Field, but some late heroics from junior midfielder/forward Charlotte Stavis (Charlotte, N.C.) gave the Wasps a late goal and a 2-2 draw against Carson-Newman (5-3-1, 2-2-1 SAC).

How It Happened
- Carson-Newman opened the scoring in the 13th minute with just their second shot on goal when a loose ball fell to Malia Kim, who placed a shot into the lower right corner of the goal to give the Eagles the early 1-0 advantage. Junior defender Bella Fairley (Chesapeake, Va.) fired the first Emory attempt at goal in the 19th minute, but it was saved by C-N goalkeeper Berna Kabakci. The Eagles continued to apply pressure as they created the next six chances at net but E&H senior goalkeeper Adriana Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.) was strong in goal as she made a pair of big stops to keep the deficit at one. Emory & Henry broke through in the 40th minute when senior defender Olivia DaSilva (Newton, N.J.) launched a long ball to freshman forward Sadie Moseley (Chula Vista, Calif.) who headed home her first collegiate goal to tie things up at 1-1 at the halftime break.
- Both teams came out of the locker room ready to go as they went back-and-forth through the first 30 minutes of the second half, but neither squad could pull away. The Eagles caught a break in the 79th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick after a handball in the box and Felicia Frick converted to put the home team on top 2-1. The visitors from Emory showed their grit as they continued to ask questions of the Carson-Newman back line, creating several scoring opportunities. The resilience finally paid off in the dying moments of the match when senior defender Dylan Copeland (Salem, Va.) crossed a dangerous ball into the box that found the feet of the SAC's leading goal scorer Stavis, who put home her ninth goal of the year to bring things all level at 2-2. The Wasps saw out the final 90 seconds to bring a point back home to Emory.
