The Sports Information Department oversees the operations of the press box and/or scorer's table at all Emory & Henry home events. A limited amount of space exists on press row and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Credential requests should be made as far in advance as possible.
Statistics will be made available to members of the media at halftime and at the conclusion of each contest. Statistics may be provided at intervals during the contest upon request. The Sports Information Department will be happy to make arrangements prior to games to fax and e-mail box scores.
All requests for broadcast radio and Internet radio broadcasts must be made through the Sports Information Department at least 72 hours in advance.
E&H makes every effort possible to provide video broadcasts of all home events in the following sports: baseball, football, men's & women's basketball, men's & women's soccer and volleyball. Softball broadcasts will be based on weather forecast. Scheduling conflicts sometimes arise during the fall and spring seasons with overlaps in game times. Doubleheaders at one venue will typically take precendence over single-games, however this is not a hard and fast rule. Broadcast resources on these days will be allocated in a manner that provides fans an equitable opportunity to support each team over the duration of the season.
All photographers interested in shooting at Emory & Henry home events must contact the sports information office at least 72 hours in advance in order to arrange for the proper credentials. Be advised that flash equipment may be necessary to capture quality photographs, and that game officials will have the final word as to whether such equipment will be allowed during play.
Practices, as a general rule, are closed to the public. Coaches may reserve the right to hold open practices. Players will be available for interviews after practice, but not before. Please call the Sports Information Department to verify practice times. Coaches will be available for interview by appointment only.
All requests for coach and player interviews must be made through the Sports Information Department. Players and coaches will be available following a 10-minute "cooling-off" period after each home contest. For postgame interviews of visiting players and coaches, consult first with the visiting sports information personnel if they are in attendance. Every attempt will be made to make coach and player interviews available at the conclusion of each contest.
If there is electronic media present at a contest (i.e. radio or webcast), the E&H players and coaches will give those outlets first priority over print media due to the scheduling of airtime with other events or programs.
All interviews with coaches shall be coordinated through the Sports Information Department. Please phone or email Joe Matthews at least 24 hours in advance of your intended interview to arrange an appropriate time to speak with coaches.
The Emory & Henry College Sports Information Department officially recognizes the following national polls. Many sports have multiple national polls released by reputable organizations, but it is the opinion of the department that attempting to cross-promote multiple polls at once causes unnecessary confusion. Any national ranking appearing on a schedule or press release on www.GoWasps.com reflects a team's national ranking from the most recent poll. These rankings are denoted with the abbreviation "No." and an Arabic numeral (ex. No. 19 Emory & Henry Men's Basketball).
Seeding for ODAC Tournaments is received based on regular-season competition and, if necessary, a tiebreaker procedure. Seeds are only used during the run of tournament play, but do appear on schedules and press releases. These seeds are denoted with the pound (or hash) symbol "#" and an Arabic numeral (ex. #3 Emory & Henry Softball).
Additionally, the NCAA publishes Regional Rankings in the latter half of the regular season for team sports. These rankings, combined with automatic bids, are the official means of selecting and paring participants for NCAA postseason tournaments. The sports of cross country, track & field, golf, swimming and tennis - which are of a more individual nature - have a different set of rankings based on top times, best marks, time standards and head-to-head individual competition. The selection of individuals for NCAA postseason play differs in these sports, however these rankings and time standards play a large role in this process.
As of May 2018, the officially-recognized polls by the E&H Sports Information Department are:
|Baseball||ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association)/Collegiate Baseball|
|Men's & Women's Cross Country/Track & Field||USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association)|
|Football||AFCA (American Football Coaches Association)|
|Men's & Women's Golf||GolfStat|
|Men's & Women's Soccer||United Soccer Coaches (formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America)|
|Softball||NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association)|
|Men's & Women's Swimming||CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America)|
|Men's & Women's Tennis||ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association)|
