Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Tabbed Seventh In SAC Coaches’ Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Emory & Henry University Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams have been picked to finish sixth and seventh respectively in the South Atlantic Conference this season by the league's head coaches. The preseason poll was released by the conference office on Wednesday. The men's program finished fifth at the SAC Championships last season while the women's team was eighth.

On the men's side, four-time defending conference champion Wingate University has been selected as the preseason favorite to defend their title with 11 of a possible 12 first-place votes. Anderson (S.C.) University was picked second with the other first-place nod while Catawba College was slotted into the third spot. Lincoln Memorial rounds out the top four squads.

On the women's side, fellow four-time defending SAC champs Wingate earned the number one spot with 11 of 12 first-place votes. Catawba received the other top nod to land in second place while Lincoln Memorial and Anderson were voted in a tie for third place.

Both E&H teams saw three athletes each named to the Runners to Watch List. Seniors Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) and Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) along with junior Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) were the Wasps honored on the men's side, while senior Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) and juniors McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) and Maddy Fiscus (Crockett, Va.) were the nominees for the women's team. 

Both teams will get the 2025 season started on Friday, September 5 at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia.
