WISE, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Volleyball Team (3-22, 0-15 SAC) fell in South Atlantic Conference play to Southwest Virginia rival the University of Virginia's College at Wise (13-12, 7-8 SAC) on the road Tuesday evening. The Cavaliers earned the win by set scores of 25-22, 26-24 and 25-18.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry was hot to begin the match and three consecutive errors by the Cavaliers gave the Wasps an early 9-3 lead in the opening set. Wise battled back with six of the next seven points to draw within a point at 10-9. The teams continued to trade blows and were dead even at 13-13 at the midpoint. Emory rattled off four straight, but UVA Wise responded with eight of the following 10 to take a 21-19 advantage. E&H tied the match once more at 22-22, but the Cavaliers finished the set with three point wins to take the opener 25-22.
- The second stanza was another tight affair that saw the squads deadlocked at 15-15 halfway through. The back-and-forth play continued through the latter stages of the frame and the teams were tied at 21-21, 22-22 and 24-24. The Cavaliers settled in and took two more points to earn the 26-24 win and a two-set margin.
- The teams could not be separated through the early points of the third set and the score was level again at 10-10. A quick 6-1 run from the home team gave them some breathing room at 16-11. The Wasps clawed back within a pair at 17-15, but the Cavaliers had an answer as they won eight of the final 11 chances to seal the set and the match 25-18.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore outside hitter Tori Boling (Tega Cay, S.C.) had a team-high seven kills, five digs and an assist while sophomore outside hitter Taylor Kelly (Hickory, N.C.) went for five kills, 10 digs, one block, one assist and a service ace.
- Sophomore setter Zoie Pace (Collinsville, Va.) collected a team-high 12 assists, seven digs and a kill. Senior setter/defensive specialist Logan Newberry (Glade Spring, Va.) had seven assists, seven digs and a kill for the Wasps.
UVA Wise Individual Leaders
- Annabelle Dowell posted nine kills, six blocks and a pair of digs while Mable James had eight kills and seven blocks. Morgan Blankenship registered 10 kills for the Cavaliers.
- Riley Brandon posted a double double of 20 assists, 10 digs and a service ace. Madilyn Pardue recorded a double double of 16 assists, 11 digs and a kill.
