EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Soccer Team (7-4-2) stayed perfect in non-conference play Wednesday evening as the Wasps downed Bluefield State (2-8-1). E&H scored twice in the first half and once more in the second on their way to a 3-2 victory. The Wasps honored the graduating class of Adriana Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.), Dylan Copeland (Salem, Va.), Kaleea Scales (Maryville, Tenn.), Olivia DaSilva (Newton, N.J.), Elise Buonocore (Stephens City, Va.), Vally Pereira (Panama City, PANAMA), Hailey Hamilton (Elkwood, Va.) and Charlotte Stavis (Charlotte, N.C.) prior to the match.

How It Happened
- The Wasps opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Hamilton played a useful ball to freshman forward Sadie Moseley (Chula Vista, Calif.), who slotted home a shot to put the home team on top 1-0. E&H continued to press and outshot BSU by a 3-1 margin over the following 15 minutes of play. Emory & Henry added to its lead in the 32nd minute as freshman forward Annie Becker (Dallas, Texas) found fellow freshman forward Bailey Springman (Sarasota, Fla.). Springman beat the BSU keeper to double the Wasp advantage out to 2-0 where the score would stand at the half.
- The Big Blue drew one goal back in the 51st minute on an unassisted strike off the foot of Kali Booker to bring their deficit down to one at 2-1. The Wasps pushed their lead back out to two goals in the 68th minute after a handball in the 18-yard box awarded E&H a penalty kick. Stavis calmly drilled a shot into the back of the net to give the Wasps a 3-1 margin. Bluefield State would not go quietly as the Big Blue struck back once more in the 79th minute on a goal from Jailynn Creek assisted by Paige Kohl to make it 3-2. The Wasps locked down defensively to see out the 3-2 victory.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Stavis finished with her goal on six attempts at net, three of which were on target. Moseley added her score on four shots while Springman recorded her tally on three attempts. Five other Wasps registered two shots each at the goal.
- Rehg earned the win in net for E&H, finishing with three saves.
Bluefield State Individual Leaders
- Yassin Joof had a team-high four shots, three on frame, for the Big Blue in the loss. Booker scored her goal on a pair of shots while Creek converted her lone attempt of the contest.
- Kaycee Coty made six stops in goal for the Big Blue.

- The Wasps are on the road next Saturday, October 25 when they travel to take on the Wolves of Newberry College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from Newberry, South Carolina.
