ANDERSON, S.C. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Soccer Team (2-1, 0-1 SAC) opened up South Atlantic Conference play with a tough road loss to Anderson (S.C.) University (2-1-1, 1-0 SAC) Saturday evening. The Trojans bested the Wasps by a 3-0 scoreline.

How It Happened
- The Trojans opened the scoring in the seventh minute off of a corner kick when Camryn Woods buried an opportunity assisted by Kylie Swanson and Kaitlyn Gregory to put the home team in front 1-0. The Wasps fired the next three shots, but AU increased its lead to 2-0 in the 22nd minute when Ansley Douty converted a penalty kick opportunity. The Trojans outshot the Wasps 4-0 over the final 20+ minutes of the opening half, but the deficit held at two heading into the break.
- Each team's goalkeepers were called into action in the opening stages of the second frame as junior Sophia Wagner (Front Royal, Va.) came up with a pair of big saves to keep the score at 2-0. AU increased its lead once more in the 70th minute when Douty converted yet another penalty kick chance to push the gap out to 3-0. E&H was held without a shot over the remainder of the contest and the Trojans earned the win by the 3-0 final.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior defender Olivia DaSilva (Newton, N.J.), junior forward Hana Kirsch (Powell, Tenn.), sophomore midfielder Cristina Ciofani (Oakville, Ontario, CANADA) and freshman forward Bailey Springman (Sarasota, Fla.) all finished with one shot.
- Wagner made eight stops in goal to keep the Wasps in the contest.
Anderson (S.C.) Individual Leaders
- Douty paced the Trojans with six shots, four on target, for her brace of goals. Woods fired three shots on target and recorded the other score.
- Aliyah Morgan registered one save to earn the win in net.
