Emory & Henry Women's Soccer Storms Back For 3-1 Win Over Virginia State

ETTRICK, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Soccer Team (1-0) furiously rallied from a one-goal deficit to open the 2025 season with a road non-conference win over Virginia State (0-1) Saturday evening. The Wasps roared back with three goals in the final 15 minutes to take the win by a 3-1 score. The game was delayed for two hours due to inclement weather in the area.

RECORDS – Emory & Henry (1-0, 0-0 SAC); Virginia State (0-1)

How It Happened
- The game was evenly balanced through the opening stages as both teams fired two shots each at goal, but could not break through on the scoreboard. The Trojans were first to find the back of the net as Morgan Parris assisted Sasha Fields in the 23rd minute to put the home team on top 1-0. The two squads continued to create scoring chances as they finished the half with eight more combined shots, but the scoreline would hold heading into the break.
- The Wasps were the aggressors to begin the second frame, putting four more shots in the direction of the VSU goal while shutting down the Trojans defensively. E&H finally converted in the 75th minute when junior forward/midfielder Charlotte Stavis (Charlotte, N.C.) buried a shot for her first goal of the season to draw the score level at 1-1. Stavis was not done as she struck again 10 minutes later with her second goal of the game to push the Wasps in front. Junior forward Siena Booth (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) put the finishing touches on the comeback victory in the 87th minute with her first goal in an Emory & Henry uniform to seal the 3-1 win.

Booth scored her tally on two shots that were both on target while sophomore midfielder Cristina Ciofani (Oakville, Ontario, CANADA) and freshman forward Bailey Springman (Sarasota, Fla.) each registered an attempt at goal.
