ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team has been projected to finish 12th in the South Atlantic Conference this year by the league's head coaches. The poll was released by the SAC office on Tuesday.

Last year, Emory & Henry put up its first winning season in 10 years with a 9-3-2 overall record. The Wasps opened the year with four straight wins and were unbeaten through six matches. E&H also closed the season with four victories in its final five contests. Eight contests ended as shutouts for the Emory & Henry defense as the team was only held scoreless three times on the year. E&H returns 20 players from a year ago including nine starters. Nine freshman join the Wasps' ranks this fall.

Catawba College, which won both the SAC Regular Season and Tournament titles in 2021 is the league favorite with 11 of the 12 first-place votes. Lenoir-Rhyne, which advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four before falling to eventual National Champion Grand Valley State University is second with the final top consideration. Carson-Newman University and Wingate University sit third and fourth in the poll. Both Catawba (No. 21) and Lenoir-Rhyne (No. 4) are ranked in the Preseason Division II Top 25 by the National Soccer Coaches.

Additionally, the SAC has announced its Preseason All-Conference Teams with E&H sophomore forward Camilla Dobraniecki (Chesapeake, Va.) being selected to the third team.

Emory & Henry gets the season started on Wednesday, August 31 when it hosts Washington Adventist University at 5:00 p.m.
