HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Lacrosse Team (4-9, 1-6 SAC) fell on the road in South Atlantic Conference play to Coker University (4-7, 2-5 SAC) Saturday afternoon. The Cobras tallied 10 second-half goals to pull away for the 16-7 victory.

How It Happened
- The Cobras scored three unanswered goals to open the contest in the first quarter, but senior midfielder Justyce Jones (Jacksonville, N.C.) got the Wasps on the board at the 8:20 mark with an unassisted, player-up goal to make it 3-1 through the opening period of play. Coker increased its lead to 5-1 with a pair of goals in the opening four minutes of the second quarter. Again Jones had an answer as she struck unassisted on the player-up advantage, then followed with a free-position goal with 7:06 remaining in the half to trim the deficit to 5-3. The Cobras would add one more goal before the half to lead 6-3.
- CU was first on the board to start the third quarter, but graduate student attack Mary Martinez (Estado de Mexico, MEXICO) put her name on the scoresheet with an unassisted goal at the 11:27 mark to bring the Wasps back within three at 7-4. The home team would go on to rattle off six consecutive goals to balloon the margin back out to 13-4. Jones scored her fourth goal of the game just before the end of the frame to send the contest to the fourth quarter at 13-5. The Wasps would score twice in the fourth as Martinez collected a goal on an assist from Jones and Jones converted another free-position opportunity, but it was not enough as the Cobras took the win by the 16-7 margin.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Jones had a monster game as she tied career highs with five goals and 12 draw controls while adding one assist, two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Martinez went for two goals and a pair of ground balls.
- Junior defender Megan D'Amore (Mooresville, N.C.) had three draw controls, one ground ball and a team-high three caused turnovers.
- Freshman goalie Ella James (Roanoke, Va.) made nine saves in net for the Wasps while fellow freshman Madison Weaver (Forest, Va.) recorded three saves in relief.
Coker Individual Leaders
- Mia MacMillan led all players with a game-high seven goals, one assist and a ground ball. Kate Halco added four goals, two assists, three ground balls, one draw control and four caused turnovers.
- Olivia Schmidt, Harper Davidson and Courtney McKenzie combined for eight saves in the win for Coker.
