Emory & Henry Women’s Lacrosse Comes Up Short At No. 13 Wingate Saturday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Lacrosse Team (3-8, 0-5 SAC) dropped its South Atlantic Conference matchup with No. 13 nationally-ranked Wingate University (9-2, 5-0 SAC) Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs established a 13-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 23-0 victory.

How It Happened
- The Bulldogs tallied eight goals in the first quarter and five more in the second quarter to push their advantage out to 13-0. Wingate put up four goals in the third quarter and another six in the fourth for the 23-0 win. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior midfielder Justyce Jones (Jacksonville, N.C.) registered the lone shot of the afternoon for the Wasps while adding three ground balls, three draw controls and causing two turnovers. Junior defender Megan D'Amore (Mooresville, N.C.) collected three ground balls and a team-high three draw controls while graduate student attack Mary Martinez (Estado de Mexico, MEXICO) added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Freshman goalie Ella James (Roanoke, Va.) had a career-high 16 saves and picked up a pair of ground balls. 

Wingate Individual Leaders
- Deirdre Jones had four goals while Madison Slayton had a trio of scores. Laryn Knutson, Bree Solero, Stacy Glover, Rylee Johnson and Julia Garvin all finished with a pair of goals.
- Saskia Aunger and Emerson Sule combined for the win in goal for the Bulldogs.

- The Wasps return home on Wednesday, April 1 to host the Lions of Mars Hill University. First draw is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. from the Food City Sports Complex.
