EMORY, VA. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Wrestling Team hosted their home open Friday afternoon. The Wasps came away with several top 5 finishes across several weight classes, led by 2nd place results from Molly Keller, Eryn Hubble, and Allison Gabarrete. This was E&H's final competition before the New Year, they will return to the mat at the SVU Invitational January 10th at 10AM.

The Open
124 Pounds
- Junior Madison Wilson (Henrico, Va.) began her day against Frostburg State's Ella McDonald. Wilson would be defeated by fall in the waning seconds of the 1st period. Wilson would bounce back in her next bout, where she would pin Greensboro College's Minnie Locklear in :43 seconds. Wilson's day would end in the next round when she was pinned by Apprentice's Janyla Anderson in 2:23.
131 Pounds
- Junior Mak Robinson (Spotsylvania, Va.) started the open on the right foot. She would pin Emma Flannagen from Bluefield State in 1:26. Robinson met her match in the next round falling by technical superiority to Cumberland's Amaria Ridgner 10-0. In her next bout Robinson would be pinned in 1:39 by Isabella Konopka from Frostburg State.
- Freshman Tana Loving (Fredericksburg, Va.) lost both of her opening matches by technical superiority to Mount Olive's Ayonna McNeil 10-0 and Frostburg State's Isabella Konopka 10-0.
145 Pounds
- Freshman Isabella Hill (Independence, Va.) began with a pinfall victory over Genesis Chinchilla from Greensboro College in 1:09. Hill would lose her next bout by fall against Amber Hunter-Snyder in 1:04. In the consolation bracket Hill would dispatch Bluefield State's Charniece McClarence in 1:07 by fall, setting her up for the 3rd place match. In the 3rd place match Hill dominated Gracie Blake from Southern Virginia winning by technical superiority 10-0.
- Junior Molly Keller (Fairlawn, Va.) rattled off two straight pinfall victories, first against Bluefield State's Charniece MaClarence in 1:36. Keller would follow that up against Mount Olive's Savannah Chesney, getting the pin in :26 seconds, sending her to the Championship bout. The bout would go the distance which saw Keller take second place by a 10-8 decision to Amber Hunter-Snyder from Frostburg State.
160 Pounds
- Freshman Maggie Page's (Radford, Va.) first match would go the distance and see Page come out on top by a 8-7 margin. In her next born Page would be pinned by Micha Miller from the University of the Cumberlands. Page would forfeit her remaining matches due to injury.
- Sophomore Rihana Carson (Roanoke, Va.) started with a bye in the first round. In her first bout Carson would fall by technical superiority to Frostburg State's Chaniah Bernier 13-0. In the consolation bracket Carson would be pinned by Kelynn Dunn 1:02 into the 2nd period.
180 Pounds
- Junior Eryn Hubble (Leesburg, Va.) had a strong showing in her round robin weight class. Hubble finished 3-1 on the day with pinfall victories over Southern Virginia's Dazi Thatcher, Frostburg State's Anasette Cooper, and Bluefield State's Megan Pendergrass. Hubble's only blemish came in her penultimate bout against Frostburg State's Maria Hiles, where Hubble fell by decision 5-0. Hubble's 3 wins earned her 2nd place in her weight class.
207 Pounds
- Freshman Allison Gabarrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) competed in a round robin format as well. Gabarrete went 3-2 on the day, picking up wins over Brewton-Parker's Rubie Barton by fall, fellow Wasp Emma Lozada, and Bluefield State's Survavive Robertson. For her efforts Gabarrete finished 2nd in her weight class.
- 5th Year Emma Lozada (Princeton, Texas) went 2-3 during the open. Lozada came out on top against Mount Olive's Zaria Robinson, and Bluefield State's Survavive Robertson. The 2 wins gave Lozada 4th place in her weight class.
