COLUMBIA, S.C. – Highlighted by several strong performances from E&H's freshman class, the Emory & Henry University Women's Wrestling Team turned in a 3rd Place finish at the Yellowjacket Open. Freshman Maggie Page took 1st Place at 160 pounds, while Isabella Hill, Eryn Hubble, and Allison Gabarrete took 3rd Place at 180 and 207.

The Open
124 Pounds
- Junior Madison Wilson (Henrico, Va.) dropped both of her opening matches by fall, first to Aniyah Dinwiddie in the 1st Period and then to Newberry's Lalney Hooper halfway through the 2nd Period.
131 Pounds
- Junior Mak Robinson (Spotsylvania, Va.) fell by technical superiority in her first bout to Allen's Isis Severe. Robinson would receive a bye in the next round before being paired up against her teammate Kailyn Pond. Robinson would win by forfeit. Robinson's day would come to and end in her next bout where she would be pinned by Sarah Edminston in the final minute of the 2nd Period.
- Freshman Tana Loving (Fredericksburg, Va.) lost her first bout by technical superiority in the waning seconds of the 1st Period. Loving would bounce back by pinning Brooke Freeman halfway through the 1st Period. Before being pinned herself against Huntingdon's Angelina Knepp in the 1st Period.
- Freshman Kailyn Pond (Disputanta, Va.) started her day with a bye in round one. In the second round she would fall to Tykala Pruitt by fall in the opening 1:10. Pond's day would end as she forfeited the match to teammate Mak Robinson.
145 Pounds
- Freshman Isabella Hill (Independence, Va.) began her day with a bye in round one. Hill would face Allen's Neveah Smith in the second round where Hill would be pinned in the 1st Period. In the consolation side of the bracket Hill would rattle off two straight technical superiority victories over Huntingdon's Alli Smith 13-0 and Arleana Bacon 10-0. Hill kept rolling into the next round where she would face her teammate Molly Keller. Hill didn't back down and would win by pin in the final minute of action in the 1st Period. Hill dominated the 3rd place match against Isabela Da Costa winning by technical superiority 10-0 in just over two minutes.
- Junior Molly Keller (Fairlawn, Va.) started off strong with back to back wins in the opening rounds over Arleana Bacon from Huntingdon and Allen's Lahtahjah Cooper by fall and technical superiority respectively. Keller would meet her match against Katherine Stewart from Central Florida, Stewart pinned Keller in just over a minute in the 1st Period. That set up an all Wasp confrontation in the next round of the consolation bracket that saw teammate Isabella Hill pin Keller with 34 seconds left in the 1st Round.
160 Pounds
- Freshman Maggie Page (Radford, Va.) began with two hard fought pinfall victories over Newberry's Gabrielle Cordes and Allen's Arvriel Douthit. Page followed that up with a technical superiority victory against Allen's Cathia Timas 12-0. The 1st Place Bout bout would go the distance as it saw Maggie Page come out on top 6-5 over Nichya Pemberton from Allen.
- Sophomore Rihana Carson (Roanoke, Va.) began with a bye before falling to Huntingdon's Emma Stephenson by fall in the final 30 seconds of the 1st Period. Carson would receive another bye in the next round of the consolation bracket. Carson held strong against South Carolina's Jazmin Williamson but would be pinned just over halfway through the 1st Period.
180 Pounds
- Junior Eryn Hubble (Leesburg, Va.) started her day with a pinfall victory over Newberry's Shayanna Shell in 2:23. Hubble would be pinned in her next bout against Huntingdon's Aniyah Griffin in just over one minute. Hubble bounced back in a big way, scoring a pinfall victory over Sofia James from Central Florida before taking on Jayden Holmes from Allen in the 3rd place match. Hubble stayed aggressive and never looked back, picking up the pinfall victory and securing herself a 3rd place finish with 1:22 left in the 1st Period.
207 Pounds
- Freshman Allison Gabarrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) would fall in her 1st bout of the day to Central Florida's Katrina Wangen by fall with :42 seconds left in the 1st Period. That would be the only time Gabarrete would not see her hand raised on the mat. Gabarrete rolled through her next two bouts, picking up pinfall victories over Amiyah Lyons and South Caroliona's Haley Fetzer. Gabarrete would face teammate Emma Lozada in the 3rd palace bout. Lozada would jump out to an early lead on points, 6-0, before Gabarrete would respond with 10 unanswered points of her own. With 1:58 remaining Gabarette would secure the pinfall victory earning her 3rd place over her Wasp compatriot.
- 5th Year Emma Lozada (Princeton, Texas) fell in her first bout by pin against Allen's Lianna Davis. Lozada would receive a bye in the next round before pinning Allen's Janya Rolland with :58 seconds left in the 1st Period. In the 3rd place match Lozada would face her teammate Allison Gabarrete. Lozada jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, but Gabarrete came storming back to take the bout by pin, forcing Lozada to settle for 4th place.
