EMORY, VA – The Emory & Henry University Women's Wrestling Team (0-1) dropped their home opening dual against the Montreat Cavaliers (1-0) by a 38-10 margin.

The Match
- Emory & Henry began the match down 15-0 due to unfilled weight classes. The first action of the dual took place between Junior Natalia Langer (Powhatan, Va.) and Montreat's Daniela Espinal. The bout began with both women battling for control before Espinal took Langer to the mat and the pin would come a few seconds later.
- The next bout took place at 131 pounds between Junior Mak Robinson (Spotsylvania, Va.) and Annastasia Skoda. Skoda took control early and won by fall in 1:50.
- It was an all freshman bout at 138 between Kendi Dye (Richlands, Va.) and Izzy Campbell. Dye would earn the first points of the bout with a pushout. The women would go back and forth the rest of the 1st Period with the score being 6-3 in favor of Campbell. Campbell would stretch her lead to 10-5 in the middle of the 2nd Period before securing the victory by pin.
- Fresh off of her Princeton open win, Junior Molly Keller (Fairlawn, Va.) came out of the gates swinging and never looked back against Uriah Peters-Gutierrez. Keller earned the Technical Superiority victory in the 2nd Period after a 2 point takedown to stay unbeaten on the young season.
- Sophomore Rihana Carson (Roanoke, Va.) was up next at 160 going up against Nicole Lewis. Both women fought for control in the opening moments of the match before Carson applied a legdrop takedown and flipped Lewis on her back for the pin.
- Junior Eryn Hubble (Leesburg, Va.) took on Shay Potter at 180, the bout stood at a stalemate of 2-2 at the end of the 1st Period after a takedown by both competitors. The bout was evenly matched throughout the 2nd Period which saw Potter come out on top by a 4-3 decision.
- The final bout of the evening took place at 207 between Freshman Allison Gabarrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) and Daniella Jenkins. Jenkins scored the first points of the bout with a 2 point takedown before being brought back to their feet. Gabarrete would respond with a 2 point takedown of her own, before Jenkins would take Gabarrete to the mat for the pin.
