PRINCETON, N.J. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Wrestling Team got the 2024-25 season started at the Princeton Tiger Invitational on Sunday. The Wasps saw four of their seven competing wrestlers finish in the top eight of their weight class.

117-Pound Weight Class
Sophomore Natalia Sanchez (Powhatan, Va.) opened her day with a win by fall over Delaware Valley's Mariah Koster (3:20). She dropped to the consolation bracket losing to unattached wrestler Alena Williams (2:50). In the second consolation round, Sanchez pinned Marymount's Madison Addcock in 34 seconds. She lost her consolation round-of-four bout to Del Val's Josey Wehr in 2:57. Sanchez finished tied for eighth after the seventh-place bout was left unwrestled.
124-Pound Weight Class
Sophomore Madison Wilson (Henrico, Va.) fell by technical superiority (0-10; 0:44) to unattached wrestler Savannah Witt. In the consolation bracket, she defeated Kendyll Mackley from Alfred by fall 1:14 before exiting the event in the third consolation round to Felician's Lilianan Zaku-Ramos (2:50).
131-Pound Weight Class
Junior Ava Thomas (Stafford, Va.) lost in the opening round to Lock Haven's Isabella Devito (3:42). She lost by forfeit to DeJonae Rivers from Hiram to go 0-2 on the day.
138-Pound Weight Class
Sophomore Mak Robinson (Spotsylvania, Va.) won in the round of 16 with an eight-second pin of Robab Vaziri from New York City Regional Training Center. Presbyterian's Carina Giangeruso defeated Robinson in 43 seconds by fall. Robinson ended the tournament with a loss by fall (3:22) to Mallory Chunat of Hiram.
145-Pound Weight Class
Sophomore Molly Keller (Fairlawn, Va.) lost by fall in 2:42 to Jessica Mendez of Arizona State's Club in the round of 16. Keller blitzed through the consolation round pinning Arizona State's Nayana Mustoor (0:50) and NYCRTC's Victoria Ngai (0:32). In the consolation semifinals, Keller exacted revenge on Mendez, defeating her by technical superiority (13-2; 4:41). Keller claimed third place in the event with a pin of Delaware Valley's Olivia Kinder in 1:52. With her victory in the third-place bout, Keller became the all-time winningest wrestler in program history with 40 victories as well as the all-time leader in pins (24).
160-Pound Weight Class
- Freshman Rihana Carson (Roanoke, Va.) won by fall in 32 seconds over Taylor Gould of Rider's Club. In the quarterfinals, Carson fell to Sarah Henkel, 16-5 (4:36), from Doughgirls Wrestling Club. Carson defeated Shelby Galex from Doughgirls by fall in 24 seconds before falling to NYCRTC's Kiki Tuttle by tiebreaker in a 14-14 bout. The seventh-place bout was left unwrestled, giving Carson a piece of eighth place.
180-Pound Weight Class
Junior Ella Tallent (Dandridge, Tenn.) lost by fall to Rebecca Acosta from Harvard in 59 seconds to get things started. She defeated Ursinus' Gianna Perez by an 8-4 decision in the consolation semifinals before facing Acosta again in the third-place bout. Acosta earned another victory over Tallent, pinning her in 11 seconds.
Up Next
Emory & Henry will be back in action on Wednesday, November 13 when it opens South Atlantic Conference Carolinas competition with a dual at University of Mount Olive. The event will be part of a doubleheader with the Wasps' and Trojans' men's teams.
