ADRIAN, Mich. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Wrestling Team participated in a pair of events hosted by Adrian College over the weekend of November 12 and 13. Saturday saw the Wasps in four dual matches as part of the Adrian Duals while Sunday was the Adrian Open.
Saturday's Basics

The Hiram Match
- Hiram began the match with a 15-5 lead because of unfilled weight classes, but E&H claimed wins in all three of the contested bouts to claim the win.
- At 123 pounds, freshman Alanna Jennings (Ashland, Va.) won 16-5 by technical superiority just before the final whistle.
- The Wasps earned their second victory at the 130-pound weight class on the efforts of sophomore Dafne Aguilar Martinez (Pharr, Texas), who won by fall in 2:33.
- Freshman Ella Tallent (Dandridge, Tenn.) closed things out with a victory by technical superiority (12-1), early in the second period.
The Adrian Match
- E&H gave up a 30-0 lead to get things started because of six unfilled classes.
- Jennings won at 123 by fall in 3:50 while freshman Brittney Reed (Sandston, Va.) notched a pin at 191 pounds (1:15).
- With a pair of losses by technical superiority at 130 and 170, the Wasps edged the Bulldogs, 10-8, in the contested bouts.
The North Central Match
- The Wasps again fell behind, 30-0, because of six unfilled weight classes.
- Aguilar Martinez won in 2:16 by fall at 130 while Tallent grabbed a pin at 170 in 2:21.
- E&H lost at 123 by technical fall and by decision at 191, for a 10-7 margin in contested bouts.
The Siena Heights Match
- The Saints started the match with a 25-5 advantage, including a double forfeit at 101 pounds.
- Reed won at 191 by fall in 5:49 but SHU took the other two bouts for an 8-6 margin in contested classes and a 33-11 win overall.
Exhibition – Emory & Henry vs. Aurora
- The Wasps wrestled a pair of bouts in exhibition against Aurora with Jennings earning a win by fall at 123 at a time of 5:14.

123-Pound Weight Class
- Jennings fell in her opening round and advanced to the second round of Consolation B where she lost by fall to Kenedi Keesey of Hiram in 1:51.
130-Pound Weight Class
- Aguilar Martinez dropped her first-round pairing and got on track a with a win by technical superiority (13-0) over Indiana Tech's Shelby Cope. She bowed out of the tournament, finishing tied for third in the Consolation B bracket after losing by fall to Sharon Leon of Northern Michigan (2:50).
170-Pound Weight Class
- Senior Andreia Langley (Chilhowie, Va.) moved through the championship bracket winning her first three matches by fall over Samira Stephens of Gannon University (2:10), Mariyah Casados of Elmira College (1:42) and Quilaztli Miguel-Lapham of Adrian College (5:11). She dropped her semifinal match to North Central College's Yelena Makoyed and finished the tournament in fourth place after a bout against Autumn Terhune of Indiana Tech.
- Tallent quickly dispatched her first round opponent, Addison Disman of Hiram (:29) before falling by technical superiority in the second round. She exited the tournament in the first round of Consolation A to Daijah Norris of Indiana Tech.
191-Pound Weight Class
- Reed received a bye to the championship quarterfinals where she fell to Brittyn Corishley of North Central (0:45). She worked through the consolation bracket to finish in third place with wins by fall over Mia Delgado of Siena Heights (4:52), Brindelyn Eternicka of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (1:38) and Tayana Labady of Elmria (1:02).
191+-Pound Weight Class
- Sophomore Emma Lozada (Princeton, Texas) posted a 2-1 record in a four-wrestler round-robin competition to finish as the runner-up. She won over Vera Yisela of Davenport 10-0 by technical superiority in just 1:08 and claimed a win over Hiram's Daija Stevenson, 10-0, in just 52 seconds.

- Emory & Henry will next compete in a dual match against King (Tenn.) University on Wednesday, November 30 at 5:00 p.m. The match will be the first of a doubleheader with the Wasps' and Tornado's men's teams.
