Emory & Henry Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Places 12th At SAC Championships

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team wrapped up the 2026 season at the South Atlantic Conference Championships Thursday. The Wasps finished in 12th place. E&H honored the senior class of Madison Carlisle (Stafford, Va.), Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.), Alyssa Chappell (Church Hill, Tenn.), Madison Fiscus (Rural Retreat, Va.), Catie Leonard (Gray, Tenn.), Claire Marion (Dobson, N.C.), Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.), Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Hope Shockley (Abingdon, Va.) following the meet.

Top Performances

Track
- McKinney finished 20th in the 5000 meters, putting down a time of 19:43.41.
- The 4x400 meter relay team of junior Maya Turner (Midland, Va.), junior McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.), freshman Alexandria Scott (Fredericksburg, Va.) and sophomore Tess Somervell (Chilhowie, Va.) placed ninth with a time of 4:04.57 to set a new program record.

Field
- Junior Rhyan Harris (Salem, Va.) was seventh in the javelin throw as she recorded a distance of 30.70 meters to earn a pair of team points.
- Chappell placed ninth in the high jump with a height of 1.48 meters, while sophomore Mia Spangler (Floyd, Va.) was 10th with a 1.43 meter jump.
- Cash finished 17th in the shot put with a toss of 9.98 meters.
- Spangler was seventh in the triple jump, recording a leap of 11.40 meters to break her own program best.
