HICKORY, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Men's & Women's Track & Field Teams started action in the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships on Wednesday. The men currently sit in fourth place after six events, breaking four school records and winning one individual championship. The women's squad also eclipsed four program marks on the day.

The Men
- Hammer Throw – Junior Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) won the SAC Championship with a school-record mark of 59.54 meters, more than six meters clear of second place. Junior Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) claimed third place at 52.88 meters.
- Javelin Throw – Senior Colby Davenport (Loves Mill, Va.) was sixth at 47.66 meters.
- Long Jump – Sophomore Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) took 11th with a leap of 6.83 meters while sophomore Joseph Ihlenburg (Roanoke, Va.) also competed.
- 1,500 Meter Preliminaries – Junior Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) finished 19th at 4:04.11 while senior Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) was 20th.
- 110 Meter Hurdles Preliminaries – Freshman Korbin Dixon (Milton, Ontario, CANADA) placed 11th with a time of 16.21 seconds.
- 400 Meter Preliminaries – Senior Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) took 13th with a school-record time of 49.22 seconds while sophomore Heath Bowker (Salem, Va.) was 15th and sophomore T.J. Pecina (Hayter's Gap, Va.) was 29th.
- 100 Meter Preliminaries – Sophomore Will Humphrey, II (Charlotte, N.C.) qualified for the finals with a seventh-place finish, covering the distance in 10.65 seconds.
- 800 Meter Preliminaries – Sophomore Gavin Kegler (Woodbridge, Va.) ran a 1:55.79 to place 16th while junior Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) was 19th and sophomore Cody Pecina (Hayter's Gap, Va.) was 21st.
- 400 Meter Hurdles Preliminaries – Sophomore Barlowe Branch, III (Petersburg, Va.) won his heat with the third-best overall time, a school-record :54.20 to qualify for the finals. Dixon placed 17th.
- 200 Meter Preliminaries – Humphrey was 21st, running a 22.16 seconds.
- 3,000 Meter Steeplechase – Sophomore Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) placed ninth with a school-record run of 9:51.29. Junior Justin Owens (Grundy, Va.) came in 14th.
- 10,000 Meters – Sophomore Aidan Trautman (Centreville, Md.) turned in a time of 34:56.80 to place 16th as junior Tommy Henzey, IV (Salem, Va.) was 19th.
- Decathlon – Sophomore Nour Nabi (Lake Ridge, Va.) is sixth after five events, finishing fifth in the 100 meters, seventh in the long jump, ninth in the shot put, seventh in the high jump and sixth in the 400 meters.
The Women
- Long Jump – Freshman Mia Spangler (Floyd, Va.) was 18th with a leap of 5.09 meters while freshman Abby Harris (Powell, Tenn.) also competed.
- Hammer Throw – Junior Catie Leonard (Gray, Tenn.) placed 19th with a throw of 31.59 meters.
- 1,500 Meter Preliminaries – Junior Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) qualified for the finals as she placed second in her heat with a school-record time of 4:42.20.
- 100 Meter Hurdles Preliminaries – Abby Harris took 18th in 16.71 seconds while junior Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) was 20th.
- 100 Meter Preliminaries – Freshman Aiyana Blakey (Woodbridge, Va.) finished 22nd in 13.24 seconds.
- 800 Meter Preliminaries – Sophomore McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) had a school-record performance of 2:23.09 to finish 12th while freshman Tess Somervell (Chilhowie, Va.) was 14th, sophomore Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) was 17th and sophomore Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) was 22nd.
- 400 Meter Hurdles Preliminaries – Ricketts placed 14th with a time of 1:09.01 as Abby Harris was 18th.
- 200 Meter Preliminaries – Blakey finished 27th, running a 28.00 seconds.
- 3,000 Meter Steeplechase – Junior Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) set a new school record with her 10th place finish, crossing the line in 12:15.95.
- 10,000 Meters – Sophomore Maddy Fiscus (Crockett, Tenn.) posted a school record of her own, crossing the line in 43:25.85 to finish ninth.
