BRIDGEWATER, Va. – On Sunday afternoon, the Emory & Henry women's tennis team (6-9, 3-4 ODAC) suffered a 7-2 loss to ODAC foe, Bridgewater College (7-5, 6-2 ODAC). The men's team (3-11, 1-5 ODAC) were shut out, 9-0, against the Eagles (8-4, 5-1 ODAC).
-Liz Graham (Bristol, Va.) and Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) earned an 8-4 victory at one doubles.
- At two doubles, Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tenn.) and Bri Pierce (Purlear, N.C.) took a tough 8-1 loss as partners.
-Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) and Katie Meade (Coeburn,, Va.) dominance as a duo came to an end on Sunday with an 8-0 loss at three doubles.
-Randolph's number one toppled Riner, 6-2, 6-1.
-Graham saw the same fate as Riner, as she lost, 6-2, 6-1, at two singles.
-Summers went down, 6-4, 6-2, at three singles.
-Pierce lost 6-2, 6-0.
-Meade was unable to win at five singles after a 6-3, 6-2 loss.
-Sheaves played in a great match at six singles. It took her three sets to defeat her opponent, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9.
-John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Grayson McCarty teamed up at one doubles in a tough matchup. But the two lost 8-3.
-Liam Davidson (Newport News, Va.) and James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) were blanked 8-0 at two doubles.
-Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) and Cooper Garrett (Gate City, Va.) fell at three doubles, by a score of 8-5.
-Ferguson was defeated 7-5, 6-2 at one singles.
-At two singles, Funkhouser went down, 6-1, 6-0.
-Watson-Dare was shutout, 6-0, 6-0 at three singles.
-McCarty was also shutout at four singles.
-It was the same fate for Davidson at five singles.
-Garrett was blanked as well at six singles.
Both the men and women play at Virginia Wesleyan on April 14th at 3:30 p.m.
