Rachel Curtiss is in her second year as the Assistant Men's & Women's Swimming Coach at Emory & Henry College. Curtiss will assist in all aspects of the E&H swimming program including recruiting, team practice and other administrative duties.
Curtiss came to E&H in the summer of 2017 after spending the 2016-17 year at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. Prior to working at Washington, she spent a year at Vanderbilt University as an intern assistant coach.
She also has three years of experience coaching summer leagues, guiding a program of more than 100 swimmers, and one season of high school coaching under her cap.
Curtiss began swimming at an early age, competing with the Nashville Aquatic Club. She also swam for Ravenwood High School, placing all four years in the Tennessee High School State Championship Meet. She went on to swim four years at Middlebury College, helping the Panthers reach the top five of the highly-competitive NESCAC her junior and senior years. As a freshman at Middlebury, she placed third in the 50-yard backstroke at the NESCAC Championships, receiving All-NESCAC honors. She consistently placed in both the 100-yard backstroke and in relay events at NESCAC Championship meets over her four years.
Curtiss received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Middlebury in 2014.
