Emory & Henry Women's Rugby Comes Up Just Short At West Chester Saturday

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Emory & Henry University Women's Rugby Team (2-2) was upended on the road by the West Chester University Golden Rams (3-2), 51-33, Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Wasps got on the board in the opening minutes when freshman Andrea Vega Lopez (Nashville, Tenn.) broke free from the Golden Rams defense, Lopez was pulled down by her hair resulting in a penalty try and E&H led 7-0. West Chester answered back with three tries of their own. Just before the halftime break Lopez would strike again, taking the quick tap and go into the try zone for her second of the first half and the match. The conversion kick was sent through the uprights by senior Gracie Wall (Winder, Ga.) to make the score 17-14. Just a couple minutes later Andrea Lopez would continue her dominating performance and find the try zone once again, Wall added another conversion kick for the 21-17 lead. E&H wasn't done yet, as time expired in the first half freshman Kaitlyn Oliver (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) would not be denied the go-ahead try, the conversion kick was wide left, and the score stood at 26-22 in favor of the Wasps heading into the halftime break.
- West Chester would come out swinging to begin the half, jumping out to a 41-26 lead before Lopez would find paydirt one final time for the lone try for the Wasps in the second half, Wall added another conversion kick to make it 41-33. That would be as close as E&H would get, West Chester added two more tries before time expired to take the match 51-33.

- The Wasps are on the road again taking on New Haven at a neutral site on Saturday, October 25th. The time of of the match has yet to be determined.
