Belmont Abbey Men’s Wrestling Defeats Emory & Henry, 38-13, In Conference Carolinas Opener

BELMONT, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Wrestling Team (0-2, 0-1 Carolinas) opened up Conference Carolinas play with a road dual at Belmont Abbey College (2-0, 2-0 Carolinas) Thursday evening. The Wasps battled back after beginning the dual down 18-0, but eventually came up just short by a 38-13 margin.

The Match
- The Crusaders began the dual with an 18-0 advantage due to unfilled weight classes at 133 pounds, 141 pounds and 197 pounds.
- Freshman Landen Wilson (West Jefferson, N.C.) was defeated by fall by Kyle Simpson in 1:46 at 125 pounds.
- Freshman Luke Osborne (Crumpler, N.C.) dropped his bout by an 18-3 technical fall to Skyler Caban at the 149 pound weight class.
- Fifth-year Levi Field (Manassas, Va.) was beaten by a tough 14-7 decision against BAC's William Nix at 157 pounds.
- Junior Sebastian Gabarrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) got the Wasps on the board at 165 pounds as he downed Caden Brandenburg by an impressive 13-4 major decision.
- Freshman Colton Lewis (Tarboro, N.C.) was bested by fall in 1:06 by Brady Ross at the 174 pound weight class.
- Freshman Raul Lopez-Aguilar (Ronda, N.C.) earned his first collegiate victory, pinning Brandon Davis in 4:40 at 184 pounds.
- Freshman Seaton Tallent (Dandridge, Tenn.) gritted out a hard-earned victory by a 5-1 margin over Caleb Hovis, as he also picked up his first collegiate win at the 285 pound weight class.

- Emory & Henry has a quick turnaround as the Wasps will compete at the King Open on Sunday, November 16. The open gets underway at 9:00 a.m. from Tennessee High School in Bristol, Tennessee.
