Jack Campbell Tabbed As Assistant Wrestling Coach

EMORY, Va. - Emory & Henry University Vice President of Athletics Kyle Sensabaugh is happy to announce that Jack Campbell has joined the Department as Assistant Wrestling Coach.

Jack Campbell comes to Emory & Henry after a successful 5 year collegiate career, where he competed at the Division I and Division III levels. After many tournament titles and a regional placement, Jack moved to the Emory area after graduating and joined the wrestling staff, primarily working with the men's team but also assisting and traveling with the women when time will allow.

"I met Jack his first year at Roanoke when I was coaching at the JUCO level and stayed in touch with him over the past 4 years," said Head Men's Wrestling Coach Jeramiah Hampton. "He was friends with my wrestler Austin Suess.  I learned when I first met Jack that he was as good of or better person than he was a wrestler, and he's an outstanding wrestler.  It's beneficial for the wrestlers to have someone closer to their age and coming right off of the collegiate mats to work with them and be a positive influence on and off the mat.  Jack has made an immediate positive impact, and I don't see us slowing down from here."

Campbell joins the coaching staff with an extensive background in wrestling and a passion for developing young athletes. A graduate of Abingdon High School, Campbell was a four-time state qualifier and three-time state placer, earning two runner-up finishes and a third-place medal.

He continued his wrestling career at the collegiate level, competing first for Appalachian State University before transferring to Roanoke College, where he wrestled for four seasons, capturing several tournament titles and placing seventh at the Region 4 NCAA DIII regionals.  Now transitioning into coaching, Campbell brings the same hard-working mentality that defined his career to the next generation of wrestlers. He emphasizes discipline, fundamentals, and character development, believing that wrestling builds the foundation for success both on and off the mat.

Originally from Glade Spring, Virginia, Campbell holds a degree in Business with a minor in Marketing from Roanoke College. He is excited to contribute to the program's continued growth and to help student-athletes reach their full potential through dedication and perseverance.
