Emory & Henry Men’s Wrestling Wraps Up Season At Division II Super Region III Championships

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Emory & Henry University Men's Wrestling Team wrapped up its 2024-25 season at the NCAA Division II Super Region III Championships in Tiffin, Ohio Saturday afternoon. The Wasps saw six athletes compete in six separate weight classes.

125-Pound Weight Class
Senior Tito Hernandez (Shelbyville, Tenn.) received a bye in the first championship round, before being defeated by a 18-7 technical fall by Tiffin's Anthony Anciete. Hernandez was then pinned in 3:52 by Nicholas Ammirati of Davis & Elkins in his first consolation bout. 

133-Pound Weight Class
Senior Avery Almany (Bristol, Va.) received a first-round bye, then was defeated by a 21-6 technical fall by Maximus Shore of Tiffin in his first bout. Almany then bowed out with a loss by fall in 4:33 to Luke Shaffer of Davis & Elkins. 

141-Pound Weight Class
Junior Logan Arnold (Rocky Mount, Va.) received a first-round bye before being defeated by a 17-2 technical fall against Glenville State's Caleb Brooks. He was then pinned in 49 seconds by Cael Woods of Tiffin in his first consolation bout. 

149-Pound Weight Class
Senior Isaiah Dotson (Jonesville, Va.) received a first-round bye then was topped by a 17-2 technical fall against Gabriel Onorato of Glenville State. Dotson earned a win due to medical forfeit in his first consolation round bout, then was dispatched by Enrique Sanchez of Bluefield State by fall in 2:39. 

157-Pound Weight Class
Freshman Zane Perkins (Wytheville, Va.) earned a first-round bye before being defeated by an 18-1 technical fall against Glenville State's Guy Deleonardis. Perkins then bowed out of the tournament aftering being pinned in 44 seconds by Davenport's Cody Ueberroth.

174-Pound Weight Class
Sophomore Sebastian Gaberrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) was defeated by a 17-2 technical fall by Hayden Pummel of Glenville State in his first bout of the day. He was then topped by an 11-0 major decision against Iran Love of Salem.
