EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Wrestling Team (0-7, 0-5 Carolinas) dropped a tough Conference Carolinas dual to Shorter University (1-0, 1-0 Carolinas) inside the John Rutledge King Center Thursday evening. The Hawks defeated the Wasps by a narrow 29-24 margin.

The Match
- The dual began all square at 18-18 due to unfilled weight classes at 125, 133, 141, 184, 197 and 285 pounds.
- Freshman Zane Perkins (Wytheville, Va.) earned an impressive win as he wrestled up a weight class at 165 pounds, pinning Shorter's Cumberland Kines in just 1:17.
- Sophomore Sebastian Gaberrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) battled throughout his match at 174 pounds, but came up just short by a 12-7 decision to Riley Davis.
- Senior Isaiah Dotson (Jonesville, Va.) put up another tough fight at 149 pounds, but eventually fell to Ethan Ross by a close 9-4 decision.
