ROCK HILL, S.C. – Emory & Henry University freshman McKenzie Hauk has been selected as the South Atlantic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, league officials announced Wednesday. This year, the SAC Player of the Week awards are sponsored by WePlayed Sports.
The Kingsport, Tennessee native and Dobyns-Bennett High School graduate received the program's second-ever weekly award after finishing as the runner-up at the King University Invitational last week.
She shot an opening round of +3 (74) on Monday and followed that up on Tuesday by firing an even-par 71 to jump from fifth to second. The 71 tied for the second-best round for an E&H player in program history.
Hauk's two-day raw score of 145 tied for the best in the record book and +3 tied for the third-best score to par.
As a team, Emory & Henry placed third in the tournament just three shots back of the team champion. The squad's 36-hole score of 620 (+52) was the second-best raw score and third-best to par in program history.
Emory & Henry will host the Buzz-Off Invitational at Glenrochie Country Club on Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27 to close out the fall season. This week's Upstate Fall Intercollegiate was cancelled due to the effects of Hurricane Helene.
