EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team announced five members to its 2021 signing class on Wednesday. Gracie Blackwell, Reece Chasteen, Briah Frisbee, Lexi Humbert and Maggie Jolly have all signed to play for the Wasps beginning this fall.
"I am so pleased with our 2021 Class," expressed Head Coach Bill Mannino. “I’m so impressed with how much this class loves the game and can’t wait to represent our golf program. Each one of them is extremely athletic and tournament tough and I just can’t wait to get them here to Emory.”
These student-athletes have either paid a deposit or signed a letter of intent to attend Emory & Henry College in the fall of 2021. Additional members of this year's recruiting class will be announced as they commit.
Reece Chasteen – 2020 Lake City Reporter Golfer of the Year, 2020 Gainesville Sun All-Area First Team, 2020 FHSAA 2A Golf District Champion ... 2018, 2019 and 2020 Lake City Reporter All-Area Girls Golf Team.
Mannino on Chasteen - “Reece is so driven, intelligent, and grounded. Reece has a multi-sport background and is extremely athletic. She has competed on the state level and is so excited to play college golf.”
Gracie Blackwell – Member of the 2018 VHSL Region 2C Champion team and the 2019 2A State Champion Team.
Mannino on Blackwell – “Gracie knows what it like to compete on the regional and state level. She is also a multi-sport athlete and knows what it takes to be a champion. I think Gracie’s work ethic and experience is going to be contagious on our team.”
Briah Frisbee - All-Conference, Regional Qualifier, All-WNC honorable mention, conference champion in 2019.
Mannino on Frisbee – “Briah is super athletic and competitive having lettered in three different high school sports. She may come across as sweet but she wants to win. That type of competitiveness is really going to help build our team culture.”
Lexi Humbert - 2020 - Large school district medalist, finished top-10 at regionals, runner-up at Sneds Tour event at Blackthorn CC ... 2019 - finished as district runner-up and had at top-10 at regionals ... 2018 - finished top-10 in districts and regionals ... 2017 - finished top-10 in the district.
Mannino on Humbert – “Lexi loves golf and can’t wait to start competing on the collegiate level. She knows how to win and is tournament tough. That type of experience is going to help lead our young program.”
Maggie Jolly - Earned All-Conference honors, played on conference championship team, and served as team captain in 2019.
Mannino on Jolly – “Maggie excelled in multiple sports in high school but has made golf her first love. I am really looking forward to working with Maggie sharpen her skills and make her the best college golfer she can be.”
