SALISBURY, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Basketball Team (3-8, 1-5 SAC) dropped a South Atlantic Conference road game to Catawba College (5-6, 3-3 SAC) Saturday afternoon. The Lady Catawba Indians ran out to a 21-point halftime lead on their way to a 79-66 victory.

How It Happened
- The Wasps jumped ahead early, as they led 8-3 after three minutes of action. Catawba would respond with a 20-3 run over the next six minutes to establish a 23-11 margin. Freshman guard Kinley Painter (Johnson City, Tenn.) converted an old-fashioned three-point play to get the Wasps back on the board, but Catawba tallied the final points of the quarter to take a 27-14 lead into the second frame.
- Catawba's margin reached 20 points for the first time of the contest on a bucket from Mary Spry to make it 43-23 at the 2:01 mark of the second quarter. The teams traded baskets over the final two minutes and the score stood at 47-26 at the half.
- The Catawba lead would grow to as many as 24 in the third quarter, but the Wasps managed to outscore the Lady Catawba Indians by a 23-17 margin over the stanza to draw back within 64-49 heading into the final period of play.
- The visitors from Emory tallied 17 points in the fourth compared to 15 for Catawba, but it was not enough as the Lady Catawba Indians earned the SAC win by a 79-66 margin.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Sophomore guard Lyndie Ramsey (Elizabethton, Tenn.) led the offense for E&H with 18 points, six rebounds and an assist while junior guard Rhyan Harris (Salem, Va.) finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals and a blocked shot.
- Graduate student forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) posted 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block. Painter recorded eight points and a pair of rebounds for the Wasps.
Catawba Individual Leaders
- Spry led all scorers with a game-high 23 points, seven boards, three steals and an assist. Brooklin Ingram had 14 points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist.
- Imani Williams went for nine points, eight assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals while Saniya Wilson added nine points, two rebounds, two assists and a steal off of the bench for Catawba in the win.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry was 35.0 percent (21-for-60) from the field, hitting six three-pointers (27.3%). The Wasps went 18-for-19 (94.7%) at the free throw line.
- Catawba shot 29-of-73 (39.7%) overall and was 8-for-31 (25.8%) from deep. The Lady Catawba Indians converted 72.2 percent (13-of-18) of their free throws.
