How It Happened
- The two teams could not create any separation in the early stages of the first quarter and the score stood deadlocked at 15-15 at the first media timeout. - Anderson pushed their lead out to 29-26 to begin the second, but a layup by sophomore guard Tori West (Richmond, Va.) brought E&H back within a point with six minutes to play in the half. A quick 9-5 run by the Wasps gave them the 37-33 lead, forcing an Anderson timeout. The Trojans finished the half strong, scoring six of the final seven points to take a 39-38 margin into the halftime break.
- A 6-0 spurt over the opening two and a half minutes of the second half pushed the Wasps back into the lead at 44-39, but Anderson responded with six of the following nine points to bring themselves back within a pair at 47-45. The Emory & Henry offense kicked into gear through the middle of the quarter, reeling off a 10-2 run over the next four minutes of play to give the home team some breathing room at 57-49. Another three from Ramsey and a layup by graduate student forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) made it a 62-51 E&H advantage heading into the final frame.
- Emory & Henry kept their foot on the gas pedal to start the fourth, pushing their lead out to 74-60 at the 6:08 mark. The Wasps had an answer for every attempted Anderson run and cruised to the 84-73 victory.
