CENTRAL, S.C. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Basketball Team (1-1) fell to Belmont Abbey College (2-0) on day two of the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge. The Crusaders defeated the Wasps by a 70-52 final margin.

How It Happened
- The Crusaders were the aggressors to begin the game, as they ran out to a 12-2 lead over the opening five minutes of play. BAC continued to increase its advantage and led by a 21-6 margin after the opening quarter.
- Both teams struggled to score in the second stanza, but Belmont Abbey managed to push its lead out to as many as 21 on their way to a 35-15 advantage at the halftime break.
- A quick 7-2 run over the first three and a half minutes of the second half gave BAC its largest lead of the contest at 47-21. The Wasps brought the deficit back within 20, but once again the Crusaders responded to take a 56-33 advantage into the final quarter.
- Emory & Henry showed signs of life in the fourth, outscoring Belmont Abbey 19-14, but the damage was done and the Crusaders earned the win by a 70-52 final scoreline.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Sophomore guard Lyndie Ramsey (Elizabethton, Tenn.) paced the Wasps offensively for the second consecutive game as she went for 13 points, two rebounds and a block. Freshman guard Kinley Painter (Johnson City, Tenn.) added 12 points, two assists, two steals and a rebound.
- Junior forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) posted eight points, seven rebounds and a blocked shot. Graduate student forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) had seven points, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Belmont Abbey Individual Leaders
- Leigha Dennison registered 12 points, six rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals while Riley James recorded 12 points, two rebounds, one assist and a steal.
- Isabella Martin contributed nine points, seven rebounds, two steals, one blocked shot and an assist. Janiah Shular finished with eight points and a pair of rebounds for the Crusaders.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot just 33.3 percent (20-for-60) from the field, hitting three three-pointers (13.6%). The Wasps went 9-for-16 (56.3%) at the free throw line.
- Belmont Abbey made 20-of-50 (40.0%) of their shots and were 6-for-16 (37.5%) from long range. The Crusaders made 85.7 percent (24-of-28) of their free throws.
- BAC held a 42-35 rebounding advantage, but the Wasps led 14-4 on second-chance points.
- The Wasps led the Crusaders, 30-20, on points in the paint.
- Belmont Abbey led by a narrow 16-14 on points off turnovers, as each team committed 21 miscues.
