Taylor Wright is entering her first year as an Assistant Softball Coach at Emory & Henry College. Wright assists in all aspects of the softball program including in-game strategies, practice, recruiting and administrative work. Wright has a passion for building relationships with her student-athletes and brings a wealth of softball knowledge to the E&H Softball Coaching Staff.

In 2020, Wright was the assistant softball coach at Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama. Wright served as both the team’s pitching and hitting coach as well as assisted in other areas of the program.

In the summer of 2019, Wright worked with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as a summer intern. Responsibilities with FCA included office duties, public speaking, shadowing of full-time staff and mentoring high school student-athletes.

As a standout student-athlete at NCAA Division I East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Wright helped the Buccaneers to the 2017 Southern Conference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Division I Softball Tournament. Wright was named to the All-SoCon Second Team in 2018 and was preseason all-conference in 2019. Additionally, Wright led the Bucs in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, walks and runs batted in for the 2018 season. In 2019, she posted an outstanding .995 fielding percentage, recording 208 putouts at first base. Wright was also a two-time Southern Conference All-Tournament selection (2018, 2019).

Prior to ETSU, Wright attended Unicoi County High School. She finished her celebrated high school career with a team-leading .547 batting average and a bat speed of 80 mph. In 2013, she entered the record books by hitting the third-most home runs of any player in a single season in the state of Tennessee and tied for eighth-most home runs in a single season in the United States. In 2015, Wright led the Blue Devils with 15 home runs, only one error, and 280 putouts. In the summer of 2015, she out-slugged local all-stars by winning the VA/TN FCA Home Run Derby. 

A native of Erwin, Tennessee, Wright completed a double major curriculum earning Bachelor of Science degrees in psychology and communication studies from ETSU in 2019. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in trauma counseling from Liberty University and resides in Johnson City, Tennessee.
