EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Softball Team (16-8, 2-0 SAC) rolled to a sweep over the Flames with a win streak that now stands at 5 games. The long ball continues to fly for the Wasps, Liberty Johnson added to her conference leading total and now stands at second place in the nation with 12, right behind her is teammate Sawyer Tolley with 8 of her own.

Game One – Lee 7, Emory & Henry 9
Lee immediately began game 1 with the lead when their leadoff hitter belted a solo home run to left center. A couple batters later the Flames extended their lead with a 2 run home run to left center. Hannah Booth (Longwood, Fla.) turned on the 3rd pitch she saw and sent a ball over the outfield fence to cut the Flames to 1. The Wasps would go back to back as Sawyer Tolley (Bedford, Va.) hit a solo home run of her own to tie the game at 3. Liberty Johnson (Arvonia, Va.) then doubled to right field, Alex Graham (Thomasville, N.C.) would bring her home two batters later with a single to center field.
The Wasps kept things rocking in the bottom of the 2nd, Laila Rodriguez (Virginia Beach, Va.) placed a ball right between center and right to bring home Rachel Hill (Stanardsville, Va.). Booth followed that up with a single to right to bring home Rodriguez and gave the Wasps a 3 run advantage. Lee struck again in the top of the 4th with a solo home run and a 2 RBI double to regain the lead 7-6. E&H managed to push one run across in their half of the 4th with a sacrifice fly by Rodriguez that allowed Kylie Cundiff (Roanoke, Va.) to cross home plate.
7-7 would be as close as the Flames would get, Liberty Johnson added to her conference leading home run total with a solo shot to give the Wasps the lead for good in the bottom of the 5th. Karsen Simpson added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th and Malorie Reeves (Galax, Va.) took care of business in the top of the 7th to finish out the 9-7 win. Reeves finished with 3.0 innings pitched, gave up 3 total hits, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.
Game Two – Lee 0, Emory & Henry 9
Game 1 was back and forth but that wasn't the case in Game 2. The Wasps lead from wire to wire. It began in the bottom of the 1st with a Sawyer Tolley 2 run home run. Abigail Street (Glade Spring, Va.) returned with a vengeance, Street belted a solo home run to dead center to give E&H the 3 run lead. The Wasps kept it going in the bottom of the 3rd, Liberty Johnson continued to feast with a 3 run home run to center field. Johnson now leads the South Atlantic Conference with 12 long balls and stands alone at second place in the national home run rankings.
E&H wrapped the game up in the bottom of the 5th, Tristyn Tofano (Roanoke, Va.) got in on the home run parade with a 3 run shot that scored Kali Cook (Elkin, N.C.) and Tolley. Reeves got the start in the circle in game 2 and finished with 5.0 innings pitched, while only allowing 5 hits and striking out 5 Flames.
