RICHMOND, Ky. – The Emory & Henry University Outdoor Track & Field Team opened its season Friday at the EKU Spring Invitational hosted by Eastern Kentucky University.

Top Men's Performances

Track
- Senior Miles Baldwin (Floyd, Va.) finished 10th in the 1500 meters, putting down a time of 4:06.73. Junior Aidan Trautman (Centreville, Md.) was 16th in 4:10.17 while junior Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) placed 20th with his 4:16.70.
- Senior T.J. Pecina (Hayter's Gap, Va.) was 12th in the 400 meters with his time of 52.63 while junior Christopher Smalls (Dumfries, Va.) finished in 17th with a 55.15.
- Junior Barlowe Branch, III (Petersburg, Va.) was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles with his time of 17.17.
- Junior Joshua Black (Woodbridge, Va.) placed 13th in the 100-meter dash as he ran a 10.93. Junior Joseph Ihlenburg (Roanoke, Va.) was 21st in 11.17 while senior Willie Williams (Manassas, Va.) was 27th with his 11.42.
- Sophomore Hayden Pugh (Louisa, Va.) took home second place in the 800 meters, stopping the clock in 1:55.78. Senior Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) finished sixth in 1:58.87, junior Gavin Kegler (Woodbridge, Va.) was eighth in 1:59.70 and senior Cody Pecina (Hayter's Gap, Va.) was ninth in 1:59.76.
- Black was eighth in the 200 meters, finishing in 22.74. Smalls finished 25th in 23.74 while Williams was 28th with a 24.01.
- Baldwin took home another top-10 finish in the 3000 meters as he finished ninth in 9:06.74. Norman was 14th in 9:13.37 while Trautman was hot on his heels in 15th in 9:15.31.
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Pugh, Pecina, Branch and senior Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) placed fourth in 3:22.29 while the B team of Tindall, Pecina, Kegler and freshman Brady Widlake (Bristow, Va.) was ninth in 3:33.97.

Field
- Junior Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) took home third place in the high jump as he cleared a height of 1.84 meters. Ihlenburg was sixth with his jump of 1.74 meters.
- Craft continued his day with another third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.59 meters while Ihlenburg was right behind him in fourth with a 6.46 meter distance. Freshman TaiShaun Cooks (Forest, Va.) was sixth with his distance of 6.43 meters.
- Craft took sixth in the triple jump with a 13.52 meter leap, while Cooks was eighth with a 12.52 meter distance.
- Freshman Brock Ayers (Austinville, Va.) placed sixth with a throw of 13.80 meters in the shot put while fellow freshman Phillip Radford (Riner, Va.) was 14th with a toss of 12.57 meters. Sophomore Malik Guadelupe (Woodbridge, Va.) finished in 16th with a 12.16 meter throw.
- Ayers took 14th in the discus with a 36.68 meter throw and Guadelupe was right behind him in 15th with a distance of 35.57 meters.
- Guadelupe earned a top-five finish in the hammer throw, placing fifth with his throw of 50.29 meters. Radford was 18th with a 37.78 while Ayers was 22nd with his 32.60.

Women's Top Performances

Track
- Junior Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) finished 10th in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:03.76. Senior Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) was 13th in 5:23.64 and freshman Lilia Yanez (El Paso, Texas) was 20th in 5:50.66.
- Freshman Alexandria Scott (Fredericksburg, Va.) placed ninth in the 400 meters with a 1:03.79, while junior Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) was right behind her in 10th with her time of 1:03.88.
- Sophomore Mia Spangler (Floyd, Va.) was 11th in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 20.29.
- Sophomore Aiyana Blakey (Woodbridge, Va.) took 17th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.07. Junior Reagan Chapman (Rosman, Va.) was 25th in 14.06.
- Sophomore Tess Somervell (Chilhowie, Va.) finished sixth in the 800 meters, stopping the clock at 2:24.32, while Harris was eighth in 2:28.37. Junior McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) was 11th in 2:32.03.
- Junior Adrianna Hall (Salem, Va.) placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:23.85.
- Scott was 12th in the 200 meters with her time of 27.57, while Turner was 16th in 28.58. Chapman finished 23rd in 29.58.
- McKinney was 15th in the 3000 meters, finishing in 11:32.43. Freshman Violet Riddle (Johnson City, Tenn.) and junior Hannah Rosen (Falls Church, Va.) were 26th and 27th respectively.
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Scott, Tate, Turner and Somervell finished sixth in 4:20.08.

Field
- Senior Alyssa Chappell (Church Hill, Tenn.) placed second in the high jump with her cleared height of 1.50 meters. Spangler was eighth with a height of 1.40 meters.
- Spangler finished in fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.24 meters and Chappell was right behind her in fifth with a distance of 5.04 meters. Hall finished 17th with her 4.37 meters distance.
- Senior Catie Leonard (Gray, Tenn.) finished 21st in the shot put with a toss of 8.35 meters.
- Freshman Chloe Spence (Riner, Va.) placed 11th in the discus with a throw of 32.53 meters while Leonard was 19th with her 23.55 meter throw.
- Leonard was 27th in the hammer throw with a 27.41 meter throw while Spence was 28th with her distance of 26.26 meters.
