EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry University Men's Tennis Team (0-14, 0-7 SAC) and Women's Tennis Team (3-11, 1-6 SAC) dropped a pair of South Atlantic Conference matches to visiting Carson-Newman University Tuesday afternoon.

Men's Match
- The doubles team of sophomore Leo Knothe (Hanover, GERMANY) and freshman Bangalie Turay (Las Vegas, Nev.) earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 singles. The duo of seniors Gus Senn (Charlotte, N.C.) and Keenan Glago (Harrisonburg, Va.) forced a tiebreaker at No. 3 singles, but came up short 6-7(2-7). The Eagles took No. 2 doubles to earn the doubles point and 1-0 lead.
- Senior Nathan Spurling (Abingdon, Va.) trailed 2-6, 3-5 to Max Stollecker at No. 1 singles.
- Turay was down 2-6, 1-3 to Leonard Baecker in their No. 2 singles match.
- Glago was downed 1-6, 0-6 by Darko Kolevski at No. 3 singles.
- Knothe dropped a 1-6, 0-6 decision to Wade Donovan in their No. 4 singles match.
- Senior Tristan Hicks (Abingdon, Va.) fell 2-6, 3-6 at No. 5 singles to Giancarlo Rosario.
- Senn took the opening set 6-3 against Aiden Standefer at No. 6 singles.
Women's Match
- Carson-Newman earned a sweep of the doubles portion to jump ahead 1-0.
- Junior Olivia Pursley (Hendersonville, N.C.) fell to Hala Awad 0-6, 1-6 in their No. 1 singles showdown.
- Sophomore Tahnne Sesma (Zumaia, SPAIN) was tied 3-3 against Kerrigan Spiers at No. 2 singles.
- Sophomore Ellyson Kovacs (Bristol, Tenn.) trailed Sindija Manovska 1-6, 1-1 at No. 3 singles.
- Senior Katie Bradley (Auchterarder, SCOTLAND) was trailing 3-6, 0-1 against Mar Fraile at No. 4 singles.
- Freshman Sarah McClure (Lansing, N.C.) was defeated by a 0-6, 0-6 scoreline by Andrea Aguilar at No. 5 singles.
- The Eagles won No. 6 singles by walkover.
