WINGATE, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Basketball Team (14-12, 9-11 SAC) fell in South Atlantic Conference action to Wingate University (13-13, 8-12 SAC) inside Cuddy Arena Saturday. The Bulldogs exploded for 52 second-half points as they pulled away for the 79-58 win.

How It Happened
- The teams traded buckets to begin the contest and the Bulldogs clung to a slight 11-10 advantage through the opening 10 minutes. Wingate nudged ahead 15-10, but back-to-back baskets from sophomore guard Korbin Dixon (Milton, Ontario, CANADA) and junior guard Jaden Andrew (St. John's, ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA) pulled the Wasps back level at 15-15. Both squads struggled to score the basketball in the opening half and the score stood at 23-22 with just over a minute to play. The Bulldogs scored the final four points of the stanza to hold onto a narrow 27-22 lead at the break.
- Wingate created some separation to start the second half and pushed their advantage out to double digits at 38-28 at the 15:11 mark. A 9-1 run over the following three minutes of action saw WU push their lead out to 47-29. The home team had an answer for every attempted E&H run throughout the second half as they managed to keep the Wasps at arm's length over the remainder of the contest, pulling away for the 79-58 conference win.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Dixon led the way for the Wasps with a game-high 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals. Junior guard Jackson Crawford (Daleville, Va.) collected eight points, three rebounds and an assist.
- Junior forward Jalen Smith (San Antonio, Texas) finished with six points, four rebounds and a pair of steals while Andrew had six points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Wingate Individual Leaders
- Kendall Campbell recorded a team-high 20 points, six rebounds, one assist and a block while Stephen Quinn went for 12 points and an assist off of the bench.
- Corbin Pack registered 11 points, three rebounds and a steal. Alex Godley recorded eight points, nine boards, four assists, one steal and a blocked shot in the win.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 36.2% (21-for-58) from the field and a paltry 19.2% (5-for-26) from long distance. The Wasps struggled at the free throw line, making just 61.1% (11-for-18) of their attempts.
- Wingate was 27-for-57 (47.4%) overall and 40.9% (9-for-22) from deep. The Bulldogs converted 72.7% (16-for-22) of their shots at the charity stripe.
- Wingate outrebounded the Wasps by a 41-33 margin and put up 10 second chance points compared to just two for E&H.
- Wingate forced 11 E&H turnovers, converting those miscues into 20 points. Emory & Henry made the Bulldogs cough up the basketball on nine occasions that they turned into nine points.
- E&H held a slight 30-26 advantage on points scored in the paint.
- WU assisted on 19 of their 27 made field goals, while E&H had just five helpers on their 21 buckets.
