SALISBURY, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Basketball Team (6-5, 2-4 SAC) came up short on the road in South Atlantic Conference action to Catawba College (7-3, 3-2 SAC) Saturday evening. The Catawba Indians saw six different players score in double digits to earn the 91-75 win.

How It Happened
- Catawba was hot to begin the game as they ran out to an early 9-2 advantage. Emory & Henry struck back with nine of the next 12 points and a three from junior guard Jaden Andrew (St. John's, ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA) brought the Wasps within just one at 12-11 at the 13:01 mark. The Catawba Indians continued their hot shooting and managed to push the margin out to double digits at 26-15 with just under eight minutes to play in the first half. E&H rallied once more and closed the gap to four at 31-27. The home team steadied themselves down the stretch of the opening period and held a 42-35 lead at the end of the opening frame.
- A 17-6 run from Catawba in the first six minutes to start the second half saw them push their lead out to 59-41. Emory & Henry would not go away, and the Wasps clawed back to within single digits at 69-61 on the back of a layup from junior guard Jackson Crawford (Daleville, Va.) and a pair of free throws from Andrew with just over seven minutes remaining. That was as close as the Wasps would get however, as Catawba pulled away over the final minutes of play to take the SAC win by a 91-75 final score.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Crawford paced the Wasps' offense with a game-high 22 points, two steals, one assist and a rebound. Sophomore guard Korbin Dixon (Milton, Ontario, CANADA) collected 17 points, three helpers and a steal.
- Freshman guard Melchior Hughes (Geneva, SWITZERLAND) finished with 13 points, two rebounds, two assists and a steal while Andrew had seven points, four boards, two steals and an assist.
Catawba Individual Leaders
- Jordan Simpson led the Catawba Indians with 20 points, two rebounds, two steals, one assist and a rebound. Justin Banks added 14 points, five rebounds, five blocked shots, one assist and one steal.
- Ibra Athie registered 13 points, six boards, two assists and a pair of steals while LeVionne Lindsey went for 13 points off of the bench. Zion McDuffie recorded 12 points, five rebounds and a steal in the win.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry was 39.2 percent (20-for-51) from the field, hitting seven three-pointers (35.0%). The Wasps went 28-for-35 (80.0%) at the charity stripe.
- Catawba finished 31-of-55 (56.4%) overall and was 6-for-16 (37.5%) from deep. The Catawba Indians converted 69.7 percent (23-of-33) of their free throws.
- Catawba outrebounded the Wasps by a narrow 32-29 tally, and held a 14-7 advantage on second chance points.
- The Catawba Indians forced 16 turnovers while committing 13, but E&H converted more mistakes into points as they put up 16 points off turnovers compared to just 12 for the home team.
- CC forced the ball inside as they dominated the Wasps by a big 46-26 margin.
- The home team got out on the fastbreak, putting up 27 points in transition while the Wasps managed just nine.
