How It Happened
- The Wasps were hot to begin the game, as a pair of buckets from junior guard Jaden Andrew (St. John's, ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA) and a layup by sophomore guard Korbin Dixon (Milton, Ontario, CANADA) gave E&H an early 7-0 advantage just 90 seconds into the contest. King answered back, but the Wasps continued to push the pace and another three-point basket by Andrew pushed their lead out to 16-7. E&H saw their lead reach double digits for the first time at the 11:40 mark when junior guard Jackson Crawford (Daleville, Va.) was good on a layup to make it 26-15. It was all Wasps in the first half and a made three-point bucket by sophomore guard Sam Ritchie (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) just before the break gave the visitors from Emory their largest lead at 53-34.
- A quick 5-0 spurt out of the locker room saw Emory & Henry balloon their lead out to 24 points on the Tornado. E&H put their foot on the gas pedal and another bucket by Andrew saw the Wasps' margin reach 28 at 67-39 with 16:33 to play. King finally woke up around the midpoint of the second half, mounting a 15-5 run over a four-minute span to pull back within shouting distance at 79-65. Emory & Henry increased its lead back over the 20-point mark at 86-65 with 7:06 on the clock, but the home team would not go quietly as they clawed back into the contest and trailed by just six points at 96-90 at the 51-second mark. The Wasps were calm and collected down the stretch, going 5-for-5 from the charity stripe in the deciding moments. A half-court heave as time expired from Dixon was true to put emphasis on the 104-92 Emory & Henry victory.
