Washington and Lee Men’s Basketball Topples Emory & Henry, 91-77, Saturday In ODAC Action

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee University Men's Basketball Team (10-4, 3-2 ODAC) saw five players reach double figures in scoring as it picked up a 91-77 win over visiting Emory & Henry College (9-5, 2-3 ODAC) Saturday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry jumped out to a 10-2 lead at the 18:05 mark of the first half but Washington and Lee responded with a 15-0 run to lead 17-10.
- The Generals pushed the margin to 24-12 halfway through the first half before the Wasps closed the gap to 29-25. W&L would lead 47-40 at the intermission.
- Coming out of the break, Emory & Henry scored five in a row to get within two (47-45) but eight straight by Washington and Lee pushed the margin back to 10.
- Up 73-62 late in the half, the Generals went on a 10-0 run to take full control and cruised to the 91-77 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior guard Jarris Hendricks (Mechanicsville, Va.) led all players with 24 points, going 5-for-8 from three-point range and adding seven rebounds.
- Sophomore guard Tharon Suggs (Raleigh, N.C.) added 19 points and five rebounds while freshman Jordan Grant (Windermere, Fla.) put up nine points, eight assists and five rebounds.
- Senior forward Alic Wynn (Asheville, N.C.) and junior guard Daniel Spencer (Concord, N.C.) added seven points and six rebounds each.

Washington and Lee Individual Leaders
- Kevin Dennin scored a team-high 17 points off the bench while Curtis Mitchell posted 16 points, four rebounds and four blocks.
- Roy McMillan and Devin Kearns put up 14 points each. McMillan added seven rebounds and four assists while Kearns posted four rebounds, six assists and three steals.
- William Brueggeman tacked on 12 points and three boards.  

 A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry went 29-of-65 (44.6%) from the field with nine makes from long range. The Wasps were 58.8 percent (10-for-17) at the free throw line.
- Washington and Lee shot 54.7 percent (35-for-64) including a 12-for-27 (44.4%) performance from beyond the arc. The Generals went 9-for-14 (64.3%) at the charity stripe.
- E&H held a 39-33 rebounding advantage including 10-3 margin on the offensive glass.
- The Generals scored 22 points off 20 Wasp turnovers and led 40-32 on points in the paint.

Up Next
- E&H will return home on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m., contest against the University of Lynchburg.
