Trace Butcher Named SAC WePlayed Sports Football Special Teams Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Emory & Henry University senior kicker Trace Butcher (Dacula, Ga.) has been selected as the South Atlantic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week for week five. This year, the SAC Player of the Week is sponsored by WePlayed Sports.

Butcher was 3-for-3 on field goals, with a long of 47 yards as the Wasps toppled the No. 22 nationally-ranked Carson-Newman Eagles, 19-13, this past Saturday. Butcher increased his career total field goals made out to 43, which is the most in program history. With the win, the Wasps now sit alone atop the South Atlantic Conference standings. 

This marks the fifth time this season that an E&H player has earned weekly league honors after Jordan Jackson was named Offensive Player of the Week in week zero, A.J. Burgess was named Defensive Player of the Week for week three and Cam Peoples and Ean Rhea were named Special Teams Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week respectively for week four. 

Emory & Henry (5-1, 4-1 SAC) hits the road this Saturday, October 11 for another important South Atlantic Conference matchup against the Lions of Mars Hill University. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. from Meares Stadium in Mars Hill, North Carolina.
