Jackson finished with a career-high 226 rushing yards on 26 attempts for an 8.7 yards per carry average as Emory & Henry downed Glenville State University by a 45-17 score Saturday. He also caught two passes for nine yards.
The Richmond, Virginia native recorded his lone touchdown of the afternoon on a career-long 67-yard gallop in the first quarter that gave the Wasps a 14-0 advantage. His 226 yards are the most rushing yards in a game for a Wasp since Devontae Jordan rumbled for 254 against Randolph-Macon during the 2021 season.
This marks the third-straight year that the Wasps have opened the season with a SAC Offensive Player of the Week. Last year, wide receiver Cam Peoples (Reidsville, N.C.) received the honor after scoring two touchdowns in a 38-7 win over Glenville State, while quarterback Charles Mutter, III (King George, Va.) was the recipient of the award for throwing four touchdown passes in a win over Concord University in the first week of the 2023 season.
Emory & Henry (1-0, 0-0 SAC) is back in action this Saturday, September 6 when the Wasps open up SAC play at home against Catawba College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Fred Selfe Stadium at Nicewonder Field.
