Devan Sproles Named ODAC Defensive Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College junior linebacker Devan Sproles has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Sunday.

Sproles, a junior from Norton, Va., helped the Emory & Henry defense hold Randolph-Macon to just 10 points as E&H opened its ODAC schedule with a 17-10 win.  Sproles reached double digit in tackles for the third straight week, and now leads the ODAC with 53 total tackles.

He made 11 stops from his linebacker position, but also intercepted a pair of passes.  His second interception preserved a 3-0 second quarter lead and perhaps the flow of the rest of the game as he picked off a Yellow Jacket pass in the Wasps' end zone with R-MC on the three-yard line.  E&H scored on the ensuing drive, opening up a 10-0 advantage.

Emory & Henry will return home Saturday for its first game at Fred Selfe Stadium since September 10. The Wasps will host the Generals of Washington and Lee University at 1:00 p.m.
