Intermont Equestrian IHSA Competes At UNC Greensboro Sunday

RANDLEMAN, N.C. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry University IHSA Team competed in a 2-in-1 show this past Sunday, finishing High Point Team for Show 1 and Reserve High Point Team for Show 2. 

Show 1 Basics
TEAM PLACE – 1st/10
LOCATION – Randleman, North Carolina
VENUE – Townley Equestrian Center

The Results
- Freshman Nada Soueidan (Williamsburg, Va.) started our double-header day with a win in both Open Equitation Over Fences and Open Equitation on the Flat. Junior Olivia Del Pinal (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) topped her section of the flat as well.

- In Intermediate Equitation, junior Grace Simpson (Culpeper, Va.) finished fifth over fences while freshman Olivia Edgington-Desmet (Alpharetta, Ga) made her IHSA debut and finished second on the flat. Senior Alexa Zorbas (Purcellville, Va.) also took the win in her flat section. 

- Senior Isabella Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) took the win in both Limit Equitation Over Fences and on the flat, qualifying for the Zone 4-Region 5 Championships in both divisions. Zorbas finished fifth in her section of Limit Fences, and senior Leah VandenBerg (Camillus, N.Y.) finished second in her section of Limit Flat.  

- Juniors Bailey Shive (Hot Springs, Ark.) and Norah Jones (Falls Church, Va.) each topped their sections of Novice Equitation and Pre-Novice Equitation on the Flat. 

The Awards
- E&H finished High-Point team and saw Souiedan and Oglesby tie for High-Point rider, with Souiedan taking High-Point and Oglesby taking Reserve after the tie breaker. 

Show 2 Basics
TEAM PLACE – 2nd/10
LOCATION – Randleman, North Carolina
VENUE – Townley Equestrian Center

The Results
- Freshman Nada Soueidan (Williamsburg, Va.) topped her section of Open Equitation on the Flat again and finished sixth in the overfences.

- Junior Grace Simpson (Culpeper, Va.) finished second over fences in the Intermediate Equitation division, and freshman Olivia Edgington-Desmet (Alpharetta, Ga) was the runner-up in her flat section. 

- In Limit, senior Alexa Zorbas (Purcellville, Va.) finished third over fences, and senior Leah VandenBerg (Camillus, N.Y.) finished fourth on the flat.

- Finishing out the weekend, junior Bailey Shive (Hot Springs, Ark.) took the win in the Novice Equitation on the Flat division, qualifying her for the Zone 4-Region 5 Championships in March. 

The Awards
- E&H finished reserve High-Point team.

Special Shoutout
- The E&H Equestrian Team brought two horses to the Townley Equestrian Center this weekend: Imani Blue Van Essene and Izzadora. Imani and Izzy helped all their riders put in solid rides over fences and on the flat, even helping bring home some wins!
