Game One - Lenoir-Rhyne 19, Emory & Henry 9 (Eight Innings)
The Bears scored six runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the bottom of the second to establish an early 8-0 lead. Emory & Henry got four runs back in the top of the third on an error, a sacrifice fly from junior designated hitter Kyle Fields (Lynchburg, Va.) and a two-RBI double by junior first baseman J.D. James (China Grove, N.C.) to cut the deficit to 8-4. LR answered back with two more runs in the bottom of the third to push their margin back out to 10-4.
E&H tallied three runs in the top of the fourth inning when sophomore outfielder Rhett Barker (Charlotte, N.C.) drilled a two-RBI double and senior Ky Gregoire (Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA) drew a bases-loaded walk to force home another run and make the score 10-7. The Bears once more responded with two more runs in the home half of the fourth to run the score back out to 12-7. The Wasps got back on the board in the top of the sixth inning as Fields launched a two-run home run, his seventh of the year, to bring the visitors from Emory back within striking distance at 12-9. That would be as close as the Wasps would get, as LR scored five in the seventh and two more in the eight for the 19-9 win.
Game Two - Lenoir-Rhyne 8, Emory & Henry 3 (Seven Innings)
Emory & Henry was first on the board in game two of the doubleheader as the Wasps scored one run in the top of the first inning on an RBI groundout from Gregoire, and another run in the top of the second on an RBI base knock from Barker to give them the early 2-0 lead. The Bears would score six runs on five hits in the bottom of the second and added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to jump ahead 8-2.
Sophomore outfielder Stuart Callahan, III (Stuart, Va.) laced an RBI single to score a run in the top of the sixth for the Wasps, but that was all the visitors could muster as Lenoir-Rhyne pushed across four runs in the bottom of the sixth and held on for the 12-3 win.
