GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Emory & Henry College Baseball Team has seen one of its players named to the 2021 Academic All-District® Team, CoSIDA officials announced Thursday. CoSIDA is the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Senior first baseman Joe Tolone (Concord, N.C.) was selected to the NCAA Division III District V First Team and is now eligible for Academic All-America® honors. He is the first Wasp to be recognized by CoSIDA since 2013 when then-senior Eric Houff was tabbed as Academic All-District®.

Tolone, a graduate of Jay M. Robinson High School, was also named to the VaSID Academic All-State Team in June and is a charter member of the College's chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma – the National Scholar-Athlete Honor Society. The Wasps posted a 6-17 record this spring with a 5-17 mark in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

Tolone is one of two players from the ODAC to earn a spot on the all-district team. Ferrum College's Josh Greenway was also honored by the members of CoSIDA for his accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.

CoSIDA's Academic All-America® program has recognized student-athletes for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom since 1952. CoSIDA members nominate and vote in selection of Academic All-District and All-America performers in 12 sport categories across all divisions of college athletics.
