2025 Emory & Henry Head Coaches Fall Preview

EMORY, Va. - Emory & Henry University Vice President for Athletics Kyle Sensabaugh is proud to announce the Head Coaches for the upcoming 2025 fall season. The 2025 staff includes many familiar faces and a few new ones as the Wasps look to continue their success at the Division II level and in the South Atlantic Conference.

Football - Quintin Hunter

  • Quintin Hunter is entering his second year as the Head Football Coach and eighth overall at Emory & Henry University. Quintin Hunter served as the Interim Head Football Coach at the beginning of the 2024 season and was named Head Coach after a victory in the Southwest Virginia Bowl against rival The University of Virginia's College at Wise. In his first season as head coach at Emory & Henry University, the Wasps were picked 10th in league. Hunter led the Wasps to a 9-2 overall (6-2 SAC) to finish in second place in the South Atlantic Conference Mountain Division. The Wasps held an undefeated season (6-0) at Fred Selfe Stadium for the first time since going 5-0 in 1998. It was also the first time winning six home games since 1992. It is the first time in school history that Emory & Henry received votes in the AFCA Division II National Poll, beating two nationally-ranked teams. Additionally, the Wasps earned their first NCAA Division II Regional Ranking during the year. Fifteen players were named to All-South Atlantic Conference Teams in which five of those players were named to the All-SAC Team.

Cross Country - Leroy Worley

  • Leroy Worley is entering his sixth year as Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach at Emory & Henry University. Under Worley's tutelage, the Wasps men's cross country team were victors at the Newberry Invitational during the 2024 season and finished in fifth place at the South Atlantic Conference Championships. They then went on to place ninth out of 28 teams at the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championships. The women's team were also winners at the Newberry Invitational last year and achieved an eighth-place finish at the SAC Championships. The Wasps wrapped up the year with a 16th-place finish out of 26 schools at the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championships.

Men's Soccer - Ali Al-Gashamy

  • Ali Al-Gashamy is entering his first year as Head Men's Soccer Coach at Emory & Henry University. He joins the E&H after leading the men's soccer program at Limestone University for the past three seasons. During his time as head coach of the Saints, Al-Gashamy and his staff amassed a 37-11-10 record, with a .724 winning percentage. Over the last two seasons, the team posted a 31-5-5 record, ranking top-five in all of Division II. Under his leadership, Limestone achieved the program's first-ever Elite Eight appearance in 2023 and consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearances.

Women's Soccer - Filipe Barateiro

  • Filipe Barateiro is entering his fourth year as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Emory & Henry University and his fifth year with the program. Last season Barateiro led the Wasps to new heights as E&H finished with a 7-8-2 overall record, including the program's first conference wins at the Division II level. The Wasps were stingy on the defensive end as they posted seven shutouts during the year. Emory & Henry will look to take the next step this season after bolstering the squad with several transfers and a strong freshman class.

Volleyball - Pam Newberry

  • Pam Newberry is entering her third year as the Head Volleyball Coach at Emory & Henry University. The Wasps finished the 2024 season with a 5-23 overall record and 2-16 in South Atlantic Conference play. Emory & Henry will look to bounce back during the 2025 season as Coach Newberry will rely on the returners on the squad and has rejuvenated the lineup with a large class of talented incoming freshmen.

Women's Rugby - Doc O'Neill

  • Tom "Doc" O'Neill enters his third year as Head Women's Rugby Coach and 12th year overall on staff at Emory & Henry University. O'Neill has been the driving force behind the University's efforts to move women's rugby into a full varsity sport status. The Wasps finished the 2024 season with 12 wins and look to continue their success during their first full season as members of the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association.
