Dan Clotfelter is entering his first season as Head Volleyball Coach at Emory & Henry College.

Prior to coming to Emory, Clotfelter was Head Volleyball Coach at The Walker School in Marietta, Georgia. In eight seasons at the helm of Walker, Clotfelter’s squads reached the Georgia State Semifinals on four occasions, the Elite Eight three times and the Sweet Sixteen once. For his accomplishments, Clotfelter was a four-time Area Coach of the Year and was selected as a head coach for the 2006 Georgia State All-Star Game.

In addition to coaching at Walker, Clotfelter has served as Youth Development Director and coach for the A5 Volleyball Club.  He was instrumental in building the club from its formation in 2005 to its current membership of more than 300 players across nearly 30 teams.  

Clotfelter’s teams have secured bids to four straight USA Volleyball National Championships and A5 led all clubs with 14 bids to national play in 2010. His teams have also won three Southern Region championships, beating top teams from Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia.

Known as a strong tactician, Clotfelter has achieved a Level II Certification from the USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation Program. He has presented multiple times at the annual Georgia Volleyball Coaches Association clinic on topics that include practice design, serving and passing.

Clotfelter received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992. He is married to Emily Haught, who was a two-year letterwinner on the Yellow Jackets’ volleyball team.

Britany Tate is entering her first season as Assistant Volleyball Coach and third season as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Emory & Henry College. She is responsible for practice and player management, recruiting and video coordination.

As the assistant to the women's basketball program, Tate is responsible for monitoring the academic progress of the women’s basketball team, managing film exchange and the Wasps’ summer strength and conditioning program.

During the spring and early summer of 2011, Tate took over the everyday operations of the E&H women’s basketball program during its coaching transition, including all aspects of recruiting and running the team’s annual summer camp.

In addition to her duties with women’s basketball, Tate is actively involved in Emory & Henry’s All-Girls Sports Day for local girls interested in playing sports. Players and members of the coaching staff share their experiences and love of sports to young ladies. Tate has also been involved with Habitat for Humanity, the Belmont (N.C.) City Carnival and has helped with many basketball camps including the regionally-acclaimed Hoops and Dreams Camp of Greensboro, N.C.

As an undergraduate at Belmont Abbey College, Tate was twice named Academic All-Conference for the Conference Carolinas. She received the Coaches’ Award after her junior year and also served as a Student Assistant Coach under women’s basketball coaching legend, Susan Yow, working with player development and assisting with practice plans.

Tate is a 2009 graduate of Belmont Abbey with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and earned a Master of Arts in Education from E&H in 2011. Her sister, Megan, is a sophomore on the Lees-McRae College Women’s Basketball Team. A native of High Point, N.C., Tate now lives in Glade Spring and is engaged to David Spivey.
