Josh Parmenter is in his second year as Head Women’s Tennis Coach at Emory & Henry College. Last season, Parmenter was also the head coach of the E&H Men’s Tennis Team.
During his first season at Emory, Parmenter guided the Wasps’ men’s program to the 2011 ODAC Tournament Semifinals after a fifth-place regular season finish. Matt Nelson and Chip Wintringham were named to the All-ODAC First Team for doubles while Nelson garnered all-league and all-state accolades for singles.
Before coming to E&H, Parmenter served as an Assistant Coach
at West Chester University for the 2009-10 seaon.
Parmenter spent six seasons as coach at Granite City High School
in Illinois before transitioning to the college level. He has also
had many years of working camps and clinics and giving private
lessons.
Parmenter is rated as a Professional by the Professional Tennis Registry and holds memberships in the United States Tennis Association and the United States Racquet Stringers Association. He also operates a charity organization that collects tennis racquets, restrings them to sell and donates the profits to organizations such as the United Nations World Food Program, Philabundance and The Hunger Site.
Parmenter competed at Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana before transferring to the University of Vermont, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1996. He completed his Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 1999 at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Parmenter and his wife, Jill, have been married for eight years; he resides in Abingdon.
