E&H Men’s Cross Country Set For Season Of Change
EMORY,
VA – Head
Cross Country Coach Jarell Christian returns for
his second season at the helm of the men’s and women’s
programs and is joined by first-year Assistant Coach, Tim
Murr. Christian, also the Assistant Men’s Basketball
Coach at Emory & Henry, likes the depth on the men’s team
this year.
Senior
Keran Billaud (Dublin, Va.) is the top returning
runner. Billaud finished in the top 10 at the Roanoke Maroon
Invitational last year, and he comes off a solid spring and summer
of training. The most improved runner last year was junior
Matthew Williams (Stuart, Va.) who showed
tremendous improvement during over the course of last season.
Cole Conley (Floyd, Va.), a sophomore at the
College, is new to the team this year but has shown great promise
in pre-season training.
“With
the talent that we have coming back and the newcomers that we have
added, I am extremely excited about this season. This is one of the
largest men’s cross country teams that we have had here at
E&H.” Coach Christian goes on to say, “We
are ready to make a change within the cross-country program.
Our preseason ranking will light a fire under the runners.
Our team’s motto this season is S.W.A.G.: Speed, Work Ethic,
Attitude, Guts. This is what we preach every day in
practice”.
Emory
& Henry was picked 10th in
the ODAC pre-season coaches’ poll while last year’s
champion, Lynchburg College, was tabbed for first-place
again this year. Men’s cross country opens the season at the
Hornet Challenge in Bedford, VA on September 1.
