Wasps Extend Unbeaten Streak To Nine Games With 2-0 SAC Win Over Newberry

NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Soccer Team (6-3-3, 5-1-2 SAC) extended its program-record unbeaten streak to nine games Saturday evening as the Wasps downed Newberry College (5-3-4, 1-3-4 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference action. With the win, E&H drew level with Anderson (S.C.) University for first place in the SAC standings.

How It Happened
- The Wasps began the match on the front foot, outshooting the Wolves by a 5-1 margin over the first 25 minutes but the score remained 0-0. E&H continued to pressure the Newberry defense as they fired three more shots in the opening half but could not find the back of the net and the contest went into the half still scoreless.
- Emory & Henry finally opened the scoring in the 72nd minute when freshman midfielder Noah Serwy (Liege, BELGIUM) struck for his fourth goal of the season to make it 1-0. Serwy continued his stellar play just three minutes later when he found fellow freshman forward Jean-Charles Eyidi (Briollay, FRANCE), who beat the Newberry keeper for his fourth tally of the year to push the E&H advantage out to 2-0. The Wasp defense shut down the Wolves over the remaining 15 minutes to earn the 2-0 shutout victory. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Serwy led the way for the Wasps as he recorded a goal and an assist on a team-high five shots. Eyidi scored his goal on four attempts, all of which were on frame. Senior forward Matheus Ulrich Da Silva (Balneario Camboriu, BRAZIL) registered three shots in the win.
- Junior goalkeeper Baptiste Berthozat (Saint-Martin-de-Crau, FRANCE) earned the win in net for E&H.

Newberry Individual Leaders
- Tomas Queiros had a team-high three shots for Newberry while Denys Bekhvandi recorded a pair of attempts.
- Charlie Clark collected four saves in goal for the Wolves in the loss. 

Up Next
- The Wasps step out of conference play on Wednesday, October 29 when they travel to take on the Mountain Lions of Concord University. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. from Athens, West Virginia.
