After losing narrowly to conference foe Guilford College Saturday, the Emory & Henry's women's tennis team stormed back Sunday to drop Greensboro College 6-3.

The loss to Guilford was a surprise to the Wasps, who came into the match with confidence after recent success against teams they had measured to be tougher. In fact the team the Wasps would defeat easily the next day had defeated the Quakers by an even more comfortable margin back in February.

But the Wasps were a bit stunned by the Quakers after starting out with losses in two of the three doubles matches in their 4-5 loss. The one doubles win for Emory & Henry came easily off the rackets of Jill and Jessi Williams. The twin sisters added twin victories in singles, although Jessi's win came after being down a set and winning in a third-set tiebreaker (10-8).

The Wasps' fourth win came at No. 5 singles. Jessie Jacobs defeated the Quakers' Paulette Wyatt 6-2 6-1.

With E&H losses at No. 1 and No. 6, the match came down to a nail-biter between Emory & Henry's Kandyce Baker (See photo) and Guilford's Hillary Routon. Baker won the first set 6-4 but Routon lifted her game in the second set to win 6-3 and to go on and win the super tie-breaker 10-5.

The Wasps turned their frustration into focus on Sunday against Greensboro. In doubles the Williams sisters, at No. 2, knocked of Karen Allegro and Heather Redd of Guilford 8-6. Baker and Lauren Dalton teamed up for an easy 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Jessi Williams was a 6-1, 2-6, 10-7 winner over Allegro while Baker, at No. 4, was an easy 6-0, 6-0 winner over Britany Cates. Jacobs and Dalton were winners at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.
