EMORY, Va. (Oct. 18, 2009) -- The Emory & Henry women's soccer team will be looking for a win Wednesday against Washington and Lee University as it battles for a place in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament after winning losing three straight conference matches in recent days.

The Wasps lost Saturday to Virginia Wesleyan 0-5 after falling Wednesday to Lynchburg 0-7 Wednesday and losing 1-2 in a tie-breaker to Randolph-Macon the previous Saturday.

Emory & Henry (8-7, 2-6) was outshot 20-1 by Virginia Wesleyan as it struggled on the road. The situation was worse for the Wasps while at home against Lynchburg, which outshot the E&H team 43-1.

Goalkeeper Hayley Poland was kept busy in both games, making nine save against Virginia Wesleyan and 14 against Lynchburg.

Against Randolph-Macon, the Wasps looked stronger. Although being outshot by the Yellow Jackets, the Wasps made the first goal of the game on an unassisted shot by Loren Favale. Eight minutes later Randolph-Macon's Amanda Nelms countered with a goal, sending the match into overtime.

Nelms scored again in overtime to help her team to the victory.

Emory & Henry and Washington and Lee will begin play at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fred Selfe Stadium.
